2012 Subaru Impreza Challenge Manila Leg Finalists Crowned

The Philippine Team is ready! last September 8, 2012, Motor Image Pilipinas held its 5th year of the Subaru Impreza Challenge at the Bonifacio High Street, Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City with almost a hundred of participants who signed up and tried to make it to the top 10 who will be flown to Singapore for the Singapore Finals for a chance to win an All-new Subaru Impreza 2.0i worth Php1,158,000.00.

The challenge started at exactly 9:30 in the morning after a short briefing of the same rules and regulations used at the Regional Face off. The Top Ten Challengers who will be representing the Philippines will be competing with other qualified challengers from other Asian countries. First time challengers Filmark Bernante, Lemuel Perez, Marcelo Soriano, Jr, and Philip Pajimula will be joined by the “veterans” Jason Biadog (4th timer and 1st time in top 10), Mr. Danilo Biadog (4th timer and 4th time in top 10), Robert  Ocampo (2nd timer and 2nd time in top 10), Edgardo Marcos (4th timer and 2nd time in top 10), Alex Neblasca (4th timer and 4th time in top 10), and Julius Mark Bautista (3rd timer and 1st time in top 10). This Manila Leg was completed on its 9th hour and 14th minutes (9:14:12:61) after beating several challenges that includes nature’s unpredictable weather and additional tougher challenges with only a 5-minute break given to recharge with food, rest and go to the toilet.

Dubbed, as the toughest Impreza Challenge yet, the challengers present last September 8, 2012 faced searing temperatures during the day, and grueling elimination challenges to further weed out the weak and let those with their remaining will and determination to go further. This year, an all new type of elimination challenge called the “Castrol Edge Challenge” was introduced, wherein challengers were required to lift one liter of Castrol Edge lubricants, with their left hand, whilst their right hand must still remain firmly planted on the car, this took its toll on many of the challengers, thus leaving the last top ten contenders who will be lucky enough to join the Singapore Asian Face Off, to finally battle it out to win the ultimate prize of a Subaru Impreza 2.0i 6 M/T.
