Audi Philippines Achieves 28 Percent Sales Growth in 2013

Audi in the Philippines has surpassed initial targets this year achieving a 28% year on year growth from 2012. The growth is mainly driven by new entry-level models introduced by the brand at the beginning of the year.

“The debut of our new Audi Q3 SUV and A1 5-door Sportback ushers a new phase for Audi in the country, because for the first time we have a model below PHP 2,000,000” said Lito Jose, Sales director for Audi Philippines.

All the winning technologies present in the rest of the Audi vehicle range can be found in the Audi Q3 and Audi A1. These two new models were presented in an evening event last January alongside the 2013 models of the A4 and Q5 as well as the 2.0 TDI engine of the popular Audi A6 executive sedan.

The sales success of Audi in the Philippines takes its cue from the worldwide performance of the brand in 2012 achieving 11.7% growth from the previous year, achieving approximately 1.45 million units delivery worldwide. This strong growth is fuelled by continuous investment of Audi AG into research and development, as it expands its global production network, looking at 11 billion Euros investment until 2015. It plans to establish its first production plant in the U.S. by 2016 in San Jose Chiapa, Mexico, producing the popular Audi Q5 SUV.

Audi, currently the number 2 premium brand in the world is aiming to become market leader by 2020. New models in new segments such as the Audi Q3 its compact SUV and the design leader Audi A7 Sportback, are the brand’s catalysts of growth in various markets. Last year, it had also acquired the Italian motorcycle brand Ducati to accompany its Lamborghini super sports car brand. In the coming years Audi plans to bolster its product assault with the newly revealed A3 sedan, another new frontier for the German auto manufacturer as well as the next generation of popular models such as the Audi TT sports car and the full-sized Audi Q7 SUV.
