MIAS 2013: Ford Expands Ranger Line-Up to 10 Variants

Ford Philippines is displaying its significantly expanded lineup of ten class-leading all-new Ranger pickups today to kick-off the 2013 Manila International Auto Show. The expanded Ranger lineup includes seven new variants – led by the three range-topping all-new Ranger Wildtrak variants plus four models especially suited for fleet customers.

The all-new Ranger is available with the proven Duratorq TDCi 2.2L engine and the best-in-class Duratorq TDCi 3.2L engine, in both automatic and manual transmissions.

The wide lineup of best-in-class Ranger variants will be available this month at the following price points:
  • 2.2L Ranger 4x2 Base Low Rider MT - PhP 859,000
  • 2.2L Ranger 4x2 XL MT - PhP 959,000
  • 2.2L Ranger 4x2 XLT MT - PHP 1,069,000
  • 2.2L Ranger 4x2 XLT AT - PHP 1,119,000
  • 2.2L Ranger 4x4 XL MT - PHP 1,179,000
  • 2.2L Ranger Wildtrak 4x4 AT - PhP 1,419,000 
  • 2.2L Ranger Wildtrak 4x4 MT - PhP 1,349,000
  • 3.2L Ranger Wildtrak 4x4 AT - PhP 1,549,000 
Also at the show, Ford displayed the 2.2L Ranger 4x2 Chassis Cab and Single Cab MT variants which will be available to customers in May.

The all-new Ranger lineup’s available body styles - Chassis Cab, Single Cab and Double Cab - are all among the roomiest in the segment and are equipped with an extensive list of practical and smart features that are available across the series.

“The demand for the class-defining all-new Ranger pickup has been extraordinary. With our wide range of Ranger pickups, we are going further to cater to the needs of a full spectrum of our truck customers,” said Randy Krieger, president, Ford Philippines.

“Ranger is the tough truck that our customers can truly rely on for any lifestyle - in high waters, rough terrain or for their daily drive to work”.

Show Stopping Wildtrak

The all-new Ranger Wildtrak is available in three variants - the Duratorq TDCi 2.2L VG Turbo 4x4 in both 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions, and the top-of-the-line Duratorq TDCi 3.2L VG Turbo 4x4 with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

“The Ranger Wildtrak is truly a truck with no compromise – delivering class-leading power and safety, excellent fuel efficiency, smart technologies, and unmatched versatility and capability,” added Krieger.

The aggressive and sporty stance of the new Ranger line-up is enhanced for the range-topping Wildtrak. Sitting high on 18-inch alloy wheels, the Wildtrak features an attractive Sport Package with Roof Rail, Sport Bar, Box Rail, Bedliner and Special Wildtrak Seats, Steering Wheel and Door Trim. The exclusive Wildtrak badging and graphics, help to set it apart from other lifestyle vehicles.
The 3.2L Wildtrak 4x4 has a substantial 470 Nm of torque and power rated at 200 PS. For those who prefer an engine with a smaller displacement, the Duratorq TDCi 2.2L VG Turbo delivers peak torque output of 375 Nm and power output of 150 PS.

Wildtrak also comes with Dual Zone Climate Control, Power Front Windows with Driver’s 1-touch Up/Down, Rain Sensing Wipers, Dome Interior Lamp, Auto Headlamps, Side steps, Cruise Control and a Steering Wheel with Audio Control.

Exclusive to the 3.2L Ranger Wildtrak are features like the Rear View Camera, Cooled Console, Beltminder and a 12V cargo box power point. The premium eight-way power adjustable driver seat fitted exclusively to the range-topping 3.2L Wildtrak is new to Ranger and offers tailored seating at the touch of a button.

The all-new Ranger Wildtrak is available in three body colors - Black Mica, Cool White and exclusive Chili Orange.

Tough Workers

In addition to the Wildtrak models, Ford Philippines expands the popular Ranger lineup with the introduction of the 2.2L Ranger 4x2 Chassis Cab MT, the 2.2L Ranger 4x2 Single Cab MT, the 2.2L Ranger Base Low Rider MT and the 2.2L Ranger 4x2 XL MT.

Targeted to the specific requirements of Ford’s fleet business, the four Ranger models are equipped with the 2.2L Duratorq TDCi four-cylinder diesel engine with a power rating of 120 PS and peak torque output of 285 Nm.

With a proven five-speed manual transmission as the standard equipment, this transmission and final drive ratio has also been carefully matched to deliver superb acceleration, excellent fuel efficiency and a quiet ride.

The 2.2L Ranger 4x2 Chassis Cab and Single Cab are equipped with 16-inch Steel Wheels and 2-speaker audio system (AM/FM Radio/1-CD Player/MP3/AUX). The 2.2L Ranger 4x2 Base and 4x2 XL MT feature a 4-seaker audio system and 16-inch Steel and Alloy wheels respectively.

The 2.2L Ranger 4x2 XL comes equipped with a Multi-Function Display, Power Adjustable Side Mirrors, front Fog Lamps and a high mount Stop Lamp, Power Windows with One-Touch Up/Down and a 4-Way Manual Adjust Driver Seat. For active and passive safety features, the 2.2L Ranger 4x2 XL is equipped with the Anti-Lock Braking System with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (ABS with EBD).

“The additional Ranger models are best suited for the demands of our fleet customers – capable, comfortable with exceptional load-space and engine technology delivering a powerful drive and fuel efficiency in any terrain,” said Krieger.

The additional Ranger variants are available in four body colors – Cool White, True Red, Highlight Silver and Metropolitan Grey.
