Philippine Car of the Year Unveil on April 4 at MIAS

The Car Awards Group, Inc. is getting ready to reveal the 2012-2013 Car of the Year – Philippines at the Awards Night on April 4 at the 2013 Manila International Auto Show.

The 2012-2013 round of tests is one of the biggest yet, with 80 of the latest models competing for 20 different automobile categories.

“We're very excited to reveal the next Philippine Car Of The Year,” said Ferman Lao, President of the Car Awards Group, Inc. “It's been a busy year with so many new models to be awarded as winners in their respective categories.”

CAGI members, motoring journalists from various publications and media outfits, conducted a series of test fests based at the Eton Centris Walk for the qualitative rounds. The test fests serve to provide each tester a feel for how each model fares in everyday driving.

After the Metro Manila test fests, CAGI's tech team spent 4 days at the Clark International Speedway for the technical testing. Using equipment provided by technology partner SpeedLab, they were able to measure how each model performed in a series of acceleration, braking, and cornering exercises..

Utilizing the combined results of the qualitative and instrumented tests, CAGI then determines the winners in their respective classes ranging from entry level all the way up to premium and luxury brands.

“There can only be one Car Of The Year, and that winner will be revealed when the 2013 Manila International Auto Show opens at the World Trade Center on April 4,” said Lao.

The 2012 - 2013 Car Of The Year Philippines awards is presented by the Manila International Auto
Show and is supported by the Clark International Speedway, Caltex with Techron, Eton Centris Walk, Standard Insurance, BOSCH, RCBC Savings Auto Loans, Victoria Court, Dole Juice Drinks, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts & Coffee, MG Madrid & Co., Winner Graphics, Automobile Association Philippines and SpeedLab.
