Isuzu Philippines Donates P 1.5M to Typhoon, Quake Victims

In line with its numerous Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) has turned over a total of P1.5 million to two foundations run by the country’s biggest media networks, with the amount intended for victims of the recent natural calamities.

IPC President Nobuo Izumina, Senior Vice President for Sales Arthur Balmadrid and Vice President for Administration Akira Okumura on October 24, 2013, led the company in handing over a check worth P500,000 to the GMA Kapuso Foundation. The donation, received by GMA Kapuso Foundation Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Carmela “Mel” Tiangco, is meant for the unfortunate residents of Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija, who were harshly affected by Typhoon Santi.

IPC on October 25, 2013, also donated to the ABS-CBN Foundation Sagip Kapamilya           P1 million, with the amount meant to assist victims of the recent earthquake in Bohol and Cebu (P500,000 for Bohol and another P500,000 for Cebu). Handing over the donation to ABS-CBN Foundation Sagip Kapamilya Head and Program Director Tina Monzon-Palma were Izumina, Okumura and IPC Assistant Vice President for Administration Dave Yandoc.

Recently, natural calamities besieged parts of the country. Typhoon Santi pounded Central Luzon, leaving behind a heavy toll on properties, crops and lives, particularly in Nueva Ecija. Only days later, one of the strongest earthquakes recorded in the Philippines struck the Visayas region. Incurring the severest damages were the provinces of Bohol and Cebu, with deaths reaching over a hundred, countless people driven away from their homes, and a trail of destroyed properties and historical sites.

“Tragedies are as much a time of sadness as they are of hope. And to help the victims who have suffered much in the recent natural calamities remain hopeful, it is up to the more fortunate to render unconditional assistance in whatever way possible. In this regard, we at Isuzu Philippines Corporation express our sympathies and humbly submit our contribution to the various efforts that seek to give hope to those who need it most,” Izumina said.

Keeping to its “Your Responsible Partner” corporate philosophy, IPC has in the past several years conducted various CSR programs that sought to positively impact people’s lives, especially of those who live in communities where the company operates. IPC’s contribution to the typhoon and earthquake relief efforts is consistent with this thrust as Isuzu has dealerships in Cabanatuan City, Bohol and Cebu.

Over the years, IPC’s CSR initiatives have also included environmental preservation, educational promotion and other social projects.
