Isuzu Pours More into Typhoon Yolanda Initiatives with Donation to WorldVision

Isuzu companies in the Philippines, both subsidiaries of Isuzu Motors Limited (IML) of Japan, have each made a contribution to an internationally recognized Christian organization for the continuing relief initiatives meant for the victims and survivors of Typhoon Yolanda.

Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) and Isuzu Autoparts Manufacturing Corporation (IAMC) donated P2 million (P1 million from each company) to World Vision Philippines. IPC’s recent donation follows earlier moves in which the company donated P500,000 to GMA Kapuso Foundation for the victims of Typhoon Santi in Nueva Ecija, and P1 million to ABS-CBN Foundation Sagip Kapamilya for victims of the earthquake that devastated parts of Bohol and Cebu.

For its part, IML has also contributed to the Japan Red Cross for Typhoon Yolanda efforts. All Isuzu companies’ donations to various organizations form part of the Isuzu brand’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, which are an integral component in the way it operates its business. In the Philippines, IPC’s CSR efforts have included projects concerned with environmental preservation, educational promotion and livelihood assistance.

“There are probably no words, no act, that could be said or done to people who have lost almost everything, including the lives of their loved ones, in the tragedy that struck parts of the Visayas in the aftermath of Typhoon Yolanda,” said IPC President Nobuo Izumina. “But, in our humble way, Isuzu Philippines Corporation would like to extend assistance through a donation to World Vision Philippines, which may help in alleviating the plight of survivors as they rebuild their communities and lives.”

World Vision Philippines, beginning last year has been IPC’s partner in the IML-funded TESDA Automotive Mechanic Training Center in Tacloban, Leyte—the worst-hit location during Typhoon Yolanda. The organization advocates the relief and development of children, their families and their communities to ensure their welfare, and aims to overcome poverty and injustice in society. Serving people worldwide regardless of religion, race, ethnicity or gender, it respects other people’s faith and culture, and does not attach conditions to the assistance it provides.

“Isuzu Autoparts Manufacturing Corporation is one with IPC in commiserating with the victims and survivors of Typhoon Yolanda,” said IAMC President Yasuhiro Kimura. “As an Isuzu company, we share in corporate initiatives that positively impact people’s lives, especially of those who live in communities where Isuzu operates.”
