Kia Hosts 80 Korean Students on Charitable Immersion for Happy Move Camp

The world will most definitely be a happier place if people shared more. This is the same philosophy behind Happy Move Camp– the belief that sharing love and hope to people in need is a move en route to happiness.

Launched in 2008 by the Hyundai Motor Group, this CSR initiative focuses on developing sustainable communities while spreading the values of sharing and volunteerism. Since then, Korean university students are being dispatched all over the world to take part in volunteer work and exchange each other’s culture. Through the Happy Move Camp, hundreds of youth volunteers have developed significant leadership qualities and have greatly broadened their worldviews.

Columbian Autocar Corporation (CAC), exclusive distributor of Kia Motors in the Philippines, proudly hosts the Happy Move Global Youth Volunteer Corps this year. From February 3 to 14, 2014, 80 Korean students will move materials and build houses with Habitat for Humanity-Philippines as part of their immersion. Through Kia’s donation of $US 46,000, nine (9) more houses will be added to Quezon City government’s socialized housing project called Bistekville 1 located in Brgy. Payatas, Commonwealth, Q.C.

The ceremonial turnover service of the finished houses will be held on February 13 and will be attended by CAC executives, local community leaders, Q.C. government officials, and representatives from Kia Motors Corporation and Habitat for Humanity.

CAC President, Ginia R. Domingo, proudly shares, “Having the Happy Move volunteers here in the country is such an honor and we are thrilled for them to experience not only our culture, but more so, the Filipino spirit of volunteerism.” Domingo adds, “Now, more than ever, we see the active and ever-present hands of the youth in global movements and we– from the global to the local counterparts of the Hyundai and Kia Group– deem it our duty to help develop and create opportunities toward a positive cause. With the value of volunteerism at its core, it is in Kia and CAC’s hopes that the Happy Move Camp will be an avenue for a truly global wave of sharing and of happiness.”

With programs such as the Happy Move Camp, the public can expect Kia to never waver in its commitment to produce experiences that move to a different beat.
