UPDATE 1: The all-new 2015 Mitsubishi Strada is officially launched (3/20).

One of Mitsubishi’s best-selling and most important products, the Triton (Philippine market Strada) receives the lion share of attention at the 31st Thailand Motor Expo 2014. Not only does it occupy the majority of Mitsubishi’s huge pavilion, but several examples of the pick-up are displayed around the Impact Challenger convention center. The first major re-design in nine years, the all-new 2015 Strada is Mitsubishi’s revamped entrant in the ever competitive pick-up segment.

The exterior features Mitsubishi’s new design language which first made its debut with the GR-HEV Concept. As such, the all-new Triton carries a more SUV-like styling with a heavily chromed front grille. The sophisticatedly-shaped headlights feature HID lighting and LED daytime running lights on higher end models while a higher front bumper create a much higher profile aesthetically. Unlike its competitors which use stamped-in fender flares, the Triton continues to rely on plastic fender flares though they’re body-matched in color for a sleeker appearance. Wheel sizes range from 16 to 17 inches with the range-topping models getting 245/65R17 rubber. At the back, the tail lamps have a crystalline appearance that wrap around the bed, a cue once again pioneered by the GR-HEV.

Inside, the all-new 2015 Triton has a car-like interior that takes its aesthetic cues from newer Mitsubishi models such as the Mirage. The dual-gauge cluster with a new multi-function display sits front and center of the driver while a tilt-adjustable three-spoke steering wheel with satellite switches for the audio and cruise control provide the main point of driver contact. The black-and-gray cabin is undoubtedly sporty and this is complemented by features such as a push-button engine start/stop, available GPS navigation, and even dual-zone climate control. The large touchscreen infotainment screen also serves as the monitor for the Triton’s rear back-up camera.

Providing tractive effort in the 2015 Triton is Mitsubishi’s all-new 4N15 turbo diesel engine that features an aluminum block and MIVEC (variable valve timing). This new 2.5-liter engine features a compression ratio of 15.5:1 and a peak combustion pressure of 200 Mpa. Rated at Euro-4 emissions compliant, the 4N15 generates a healthy 181 horsepower at 3,500 rpm, and more importantly, 430 Nm of torque at 2,500 rpm. This is mated to a 6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission. Other markets though will receive the carryover 2.5-liter 4D56 (perhaps including the Philippine market until the Euro-4 shift in 2016). Improved off-road capability is assured thanks to the Easy Select 4WD system along with Active Skid and Traction Control or ASTC.

The all-new 2015 Mitsubishi Triton/Strada is expected to make its Philippine market debut early next year.

  2. So pity this design, far from the new NP300 Navara which utilizes it's interior from it's premium car. I am a Mitsu fan but never will I drive this crazy design. Mitsubishi pls. back to drawing board..

  3. Full chrome front stinks. It pales in comparison with the new Navarra which looks very muscular and bold while the Mitsu looks like a transgender with too much bling.

  5. One of the ugliest entries this year. Anyone who says that this is a good looking pick up are blind die-hard mitsu fanboys.

  6. This design would make for a good Montero Sport but not a pick-up truck. With the Navara also being displayed prominently, the Strada's homely look is definitely a loser.

    1. Yup. I hope mitsubishi designers won't fuck it up the design of the montero too. Whoever designed this must have been payed in minimum wage.
