Isuzu mu-X Boosts Isuzu PHL Sales by 52 Percent in Early Half of 2015

Japanese car maker Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) has made a huge jump from its total year-to-date sales compared to its previous data last year after growing more than half of its total number in 2014. The strong sales performance is being driven by their latest vehicle offering, the Isuzu mu-X.

Based on the figures released to the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Incorporated (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA), Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) has sold a total of 8,010 vehicles for the first five months of this year, which is a 51.90-percent jump from the 5,273 units sold in 2014.

Some 3,732 units of the Isuzu mu-X were sold on the said period, accounting for 46.6-percent of IPC’s total sales. The increase in demand overshadowed the January-May 2014 sales of the Alterra by 1,804-percent, after selling only 196 the previous year.

Launched last September, Isuzu’s new SUV replaced the equally-loved Isuzu Alterra.

Overall, IPC takes 4th position among local automotive firms with 7.5 percent of the total local market share. On a month-to-date comparison, IPC has increased its sales to 1,614 units from its 1,119 units sold in May last year, reflecting a 44.4-percent rise.

The light-duty truck N-series added additional boost to the sales performance as it has sold 1,447 units for the first five months of the year, showing a 34.9 percent increase over the 1,073 units rolled out for the same duration in 2014.

Moreover, IPC’s trucks and buses also gained momentum in terms of sales as it has delivered 122 units from January to May 2015, a 114 percent growth versus the 57 units in 2014.

The performance cushioned the sales for the Isuzu Crosswind, which has reached 1,577 units sold, showing a 31.6 percent decrease versus the 2,304 units delivered for the same period last year. The   D-Max pick-up truck also showed steady sales performance after only selling 1,132 units for January-May 2015 as compared to the 1,643 units last year, which reflected a 31.1 percent cut.

IPC president Hajime Koso expressed confidence that the sales trend would continue for them as the recently-introduced mu-X has immediately gained a huge volume of followers.

“Aside from our usual beloved followers which are entrepreneurs, companies with vehicle fleets and other businesses that continuously patronize our trucks; the mu-X is also gaining fame in the local automotive scene. We believe that this would continue in the remaining months of the year," said Koso.

“I would like to extend my gratitude to all Filipino’s for the steadfast trust given to our brand. In return, Isuzu will continue to provide durable, reliable and fuel-efficient models,” he adds.

    2. No one can match? How come?
Check their MU-X or Dmax 4WD drivetrain compare to others..Just an open diffential, way behind my friend...
And Isuzu is costly to maintain.

How come Isuzu's are costly to maintain. You can get them maintained even in small shops everywhere.

  3. How sure you are. Even today, you can still see decade old jeepneys with reliable isuzu engines lerking on the streets of Manila.

  4. ^Yeah coz the government is stupid enough to let them still use those junk (aka. surplus) engines from first world countries... Isuzu doesn't seem to mind if their reputation gets tainted as a major pollutant in NCR because of this fiasco!

mu-X is "good enough"... bodes well with "typical pinoys" and the "high resale value" peeps...

  5. Isuzu are for the newbies and OFW families who still thinks that Isuzu is a great buy. There are tons of option around which are with great technology and with up-to-date features.. I bet you won't get an old fashioned sportivo compared to others within the same range... MU-X?? never mind. I'll stick with my trailblazer instead..

  6. ^Poor OFWs... most of the time they are already being fooled by recruiters, employers and the government, and yet they still get fooled by car companies like Isuzu?

  7. Brand familiarity and reputation for cheap and easy ownership are probably the most important factors for newbies and OFW families. After all, car ownership is probably one of the most costliest investment one can buy, possibly second to buying a home.

    1. so they really are getting fooled...... Isuzu ownership is costly compared to what you get from the competitors (like additional safety features, ergonomics, etc). OWWA was right, most OFWs do not know how to use their hard earned money wisely......

  8. Now isuzu should release the 3.0 VGS variant for the MU-X and D-Max that would boost up sales for their suv and pick-up truck.

  9. how can the 3.0 boost sales of mu-x? one, it will surely increase the already outrageous price of its models, two, the interiors are undesirable compared to the competition!

  10. Sorry guys. At the end of the day, buyer's preference according to budget, fuel consumption and usability will suffice. So, if they see the MU-X as their final choice after comparing it to the old Fortuner, old Montero and the much anticipated Everest, they will still follow their preference. I myself was thorned between Everest and MUX. But after comparing them, the 1.6M variant of Everest was way too costly and it is not available yet during that time. I test drove the MU-X and I loved how it performs. My wife says it's easy to drive. She actually asked me if we can install a TV Box and yes...we could. (Walang arte arte ang MUX). My son was also delighted with the rear monitor and he was actually loving it. The 3rd row seats are also foldable and is ample for our weekly out of town trips. The performance including the ride quality was way too unexpected that I can even compare it to a sedan which is very comfortable. Best of all, the fuel consumption really is a huge plus. So, if someone prefers those higher quality SUVs, they can go for it since money is not an issue. Still, we are happy to finally own this SUV and then sell it after 5 years to try a new one again.
