Ford Launches EcoBoost-Powered Focus for Philippine Market (w/ Brochure)

After taking it for a spin around Adelaide some months back, Ford Philippines has finally unveiled the 2016 Focus for the Philippine market. The refreshed Focus boasts of a more modern exterior, refined interior, and new levels of sophistication to its class. It also comes in a simplified number of variants all powered by a single engine.

Outside, the 2016 Focus features a heavily reworked front end with slimmer headlights, trapezoidal grille, and elongated fog lamps. The rear also sees thinner tail lamps along with revised spoiler designs for improved aerodynamics. Inside, the cabin is made simpler with fewer controls and switches. Aside from the revised instrumentation, it also has more storage spaces including the ability to swallow a 1-liter bottle and a 400-ml cup simultaneously in the adjustable center console.

Cutting-edge technology has made the Focus a standout name in the compact segment and that continues with the 2016 model. Enhancements include the SYNC 2 infotainment system as well as an Enhanced Active Park Assist that enables the Focus to enter to both parallel and perpendicular parking spaces. Active City Stop now works up to 50 km/h while Ford’s MyKey encourages safer driving especially for teens.

For 2016, the entire Focus line-up is driven by a new 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine with 180 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque. Using direct injection technology, twin independent variable cam timing, and turbocharging, the Focus delivers more power than any other compact car. The engine is mated solely to a 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters.

The Focus comes in eight colors: Frozen White, Panther Black, Ingot Silver, Winning Blue, Magnetic Metallic, Lunar Sky, Candy Red, and Mustard Olive. For sale now, it comes in four variants: Titanium A/T Sedan (P 1,088,000), Sport A/T Hatchback (P 1,088,000), Titanium+ A/T Sedan (P 1,278,000), and Sport+ A/T Hatchback (P 1,278,000).

  1. Based on specs, I think its priced quite competitive. Even the low trim model still has the same engine and safety kit (airbags, eps, rear parking assist). The Focus is probably the most powerful sedan and hatchback in the compact segment. Sir Uly, will you make a spec comparison with this and the competition?

    1. The previous gen Focus with its 2.0L NA engine was already the compact with the most power output at around 160-170HP. This new model with the 1.5L Ecoboost engine has the same amount of output as midsize cars with 2.4L NA engines (170-180HP). The best thing though is the amount of torque available at low rpms.

  2. Does the lower trim models have leather seats and leather steering wheel? And no magnetic metallic color for the hatchback? That sucks. The price is extremely competitive though.

  3. lets wait for the new civic. same 1.5li turbo. though much lesser HP rating, its got tons and loads of space compared to the a bit crampy Focus sedan. hopefully they are on the same price range.

    1. the amount of tech you can have in the focus doesnt even justify the pricing of the new civic. this car has basically every safety feature you can find in the explorer(2.6 million pesos)

    2. The base Sport and Titanium models with a good amount of features and the 1.5L Ecoboost engine is priced competitively at 1.088M. I am not sure how much Honda will price the new Civic 1.5L turbo but knowing HondaPH's pricing model (take into consideration the HRV and the ludicrous Mugen models), it might be near the price of the Accord already. The current Civic 1.8E model is priced at 1.078M which is not really comparable to the features and specifications offered by the new Focus base Sport and Titanium models.

  4. The deal breaker for me: They downgraded the headlights from HID to simplest halogen reflector. Increased to price by 45K on sport+. In return you get 'improved' parking assist in my opinion completely useless regarding the space needed between 2 cars and backwards parking goes in 2 steps while a normal driver can do it in 1, The only improvement I see is the interior, it looks back like a car instead like a power morphing ranger i don't know what. Same car...new front...More profit for Ford Ecoboost engine... more money to pay... cutdown on the HID....

    2. No you won't. You're a special child and you're not allowed to drive vehicles.
