Ford Philippines Delivers Record Full-Year Sales in 2015

Ford Philippines announced its third consecutive record year with overall retail sales in 2015 that increased 25 percent to 25,372 units, driven by strong sales across its entire Ford lineup in the country.

The company’s record year was capped by its best-ever December performance with retail sales rising 48 percent year-over-year to 2,824 units, and an all-time record quarter that saw sales jumping 50 percent year-over-year to 8,691 units.

The record sales year and continuing momentum helped Ford jump one spot to become the number three-selling automotive brand in the Philippines in 2015.

“It’s been a breakthrough year for Ford in the Philippines. We launched more global Ford vehicles that showcased the very best of Ford, and expanded our retail presence across the country to make the Ford brand closer to our customers through a strong dealer network,” said Lance Mosley, managing director, Ford Philippines. “We’re truly proud of how the Ford brand is being embraced by our Filipino customers.”

The EcoSport compact urban SUV’s continuing impressive run made it Ford’s best-selling nameplate in the Philippines in 2015. December retail sales of EcoSport rose 49 percent to 799 units, helping drive full-year sales up 67 percent to 8,702 units – the highest full-year total for a single Ford nameplate.

The highly capable and versatile Ranger finished 2015 as the second best-selling pickup truck in the Philippines with total retail sales that increased six percent year-over-year to 8,445 units.

“We launched the new Ranger here in August, and it really helped to build on an already strong reputation as the most capable, powerful and smartest pickup in the market,” explained Mosley.

The September launch and immediate success of the all-new Everest SUV in 2015 helped the nameplate achieve another record full-year performance with retail sales climbing 58 percent year-over-year to 4,945 units.

The all-new Everest raises the bar for mid-sized SUVs with its striking design, outstanding capability, and advanced connectivity and driver assistance technologies that make it one of the smartest in its segment.

The sporty Fiesta achieved sales of 81 units in December, helping bring its full year total to 1,497 units. The Fiesta continues to be a hit among Filipino consumers who appreciate its high-performance and fuel-efficient 1.0L EcoBoost engine.

Ford’s North American SUVs also performed well in 2015. The premium Explorer SUV delivered full-year sales of 951 units, including December sales that rose five percent to 89 units and fourth quarter sales that also rose five percent to 237 units. Sales of the Escape small SUV were 285 units, and the Expedition Platinum brought in retail sales of 65 units.

Total retail sales of the iconic Ford Mustang rose 51 percent to 210 units in 2015. Ford launched the latest pony car early in 2015, featuring the 5.0L and 2.3L EcoBoost variants.

Ford’s efforts to make the Ford brand even more accessible to Filipinos across the country continued in 2015 with the company adding five new dealerships for a total of 40 from Luzon to Mindanao. Ford plans to continue adding new dealerships in 2016.

“This year we’ll continue with a focus on further strengthening our customer experience – both by continuing to expand our nationwide network of Ford dealers, and by working closely with each of our dealerships to ensure nothing but a truly world-class offering,” said Mosley.
