Mazda Philippines Makes Maps Available for Local Units

There’s more good news from Mazda Philippines. After confirming the arrival of the CX-3 subcompact crossover sooner rather than later, Berjaya Auto Philippines, the exclusive distributor of Mazda vehicles in the country, is also rectifying the single and glaring missing thing on its vehicles equipped with the Mazda Connection infotainment system: GPS navigation. Yes, Mazda owners, you can now activate turn-by-turn navigation.

A scroll through the Mazda Connect’s menu reveals the obvious: the vehicle is already equipped with GPS antennas and the only thing missing is the map. Now, owners of units equipped with the Mazda Connect infotainment system (Mazda2, Mazda3, Mazda6, CX-5, and MX-5) can head over to their nearest dealership and have the maps installed for free.

In order to get the turn-by-turn navigation system fully functional, it requires three steps:

First, the Mazda Connect’s operating system must be updated by your authorized Mazda dealer. They can also determine if your car can accommodate the GPS navigation system through its VIN or Vehicle Identification Number.

Second, just pay for the cost of the 32GB SD card (worth P 3,000) and the dealer will give you the map already pre-installed in it. And before you ask, you cannot bring your SD card nor can you simply copy the file from one SD card to another (there is built-in security).

Finally, enjoy your fully working navigation system.

Mazda Philippines has invested a lot to make turn-by-turn navigation available on their cars. It’s accurate but still not perfect. It’s for this reason that Mazda Philippines has decided to give the maps for free.

Dealers are already undergoing training and will be able to install the maps in two weeks time (middle of July).

Owners taking delivery of their brand-new vehicles are even luckier. Starting today, all vehicles equipped with the Mazda Connect infotainment system are shipped with fully working maps already installed.

  1. Why charge us 3k when brand new units already comes pre installed with it? It should have been there in the first place!

  2. This offer is much better than Mitsubishi's dealer option navigation for php10,000. Its a small way for the dealership to earn some money. If you own a new car, you can easily pay for php3000 anyway.

  3. Nope. Its the principal here - we paid exactly the same as those who are just getting their vehicles now. We should get this, an easy upgrade, with a SD card that doesn't cost P3,000, for free.

  4. How disappointing Berjaya. You marketed this, or at least your Sales people at dealerships did, as coming free with the vehicle. Now you're charging????????????????

  5. PFFFFFFTTT. Was excited until I saw they're charging. And Anonymous above me is correct, I thought it came with my CX5.

  6. "And before you ask, you cannot bring your SD card nor can you simply copy the file from one SD card to another (there is built-in security)." - Seriously? If they were planning to give it out for free as they say, why can't we bring our own SD card?

  12. Map should be free in the first place, pa konsuelo nalang ng Mazda sa mga Patronizers nila, Godbless!

    ReplyDelete
  13. How can it be konsuelo? We've waited so long for this...ang konsuelo is kung libre sana!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Understand before commenting bro...but yes,Pakonsuelo lang sana na libre...whats 3k for goodwill to their customers who spend millions at least buying cars from them?

  15. So disappointed in Mazda - not even listening to comments, My Sales agent said it would be available soon, and was FREE. That was a promise made a year ago. Now, wala na ang agent ko and the casa insists that there really is a fee. Boo!!!!

  16. Its free with the new models, but they punish those who got the same car earlier? Ok sana if the upgrade was an improved stereo, or mags, or body kit...but an SD card? Galing Berjaya!

  21. Guys give Mazda/Berjaya a break. Buti nga they're trying to make good...they didnt have to.

  22. If they were willing to make good, why charge for their service? "Free" yung map, but labor, and SD card hindi, and you cant provide the SD card and install it yourself? Anong FREE dun? Yung charge to make the map, which should be part of their package in the first place?

  23. Sigh was excited until I read that theress and additional 3k pa. Bakit pa kaya?

I might have to correct you there my friend:
      That's not a right - that's a privilege.

    3. Nope my friend - I might have to correct YOU on that. Its a RIGHT - when they say it comes with the car in the first place.

  26. I just saw the map my friend got his car from Mazda Alabang few days ago. The map is 2D only, I heard they will come out with a better offline map soon. May plan sila end of this year for Android Auto and Apple Car Play for online maps daw. Sana yun nalang and a better Offline map. I don't mind paying more if I have a mazda as long as I have all the features na meron ang Honda and Chevy now. (android auto and apple Car play) saka Garmin maps yun Honda right sa offline maps?

  27. I just had the SD card installed today on my MX5 and the resulting nav i system is great - in 2005. Tiny tiny 2D map, very inaccurate and no voice directions. Mazda better come up with a better implementation because this one is hilarious

  28. Got mine installed at alabang yesterday. Its useless. Cant connect to gps signal for ages. No menu, only location search. No favorites. Cant even save a home location. Its not navigation, just a very basic map. U feel a bit cheated.
