mu-X Club Drive Highlights Family-Friendly Nature of Isuzu's SUV

A group vehicle owners who have bonded together in a shared passion for their Isuzu mu-X SUV recently organized a trip in which highlighted was the primary reason for their transportation choice—their families.

The mu-X Club, the biggest group of mu-X owners that is recognized by Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC), from May 20-22 gathered together 24 of its members to take on the mu-X Club Bicol Express Caravan. Along with their families, the members started their three-day trip in San Pedro, Laguna, then traveled across the Bicol region to Legazpi, before winding their way back to Metro Manila.

The Bicol Express Caravan is part of the mu-X Club’s roster of quarterly activities that come on top of their “eyeball” meets. The club is a chapter member of Team Isuzu Pilipinas which, for its part, is the biggest club of Isuzu owners in the country. Apart from these quarterly activities, the club also meets monthly to keep in touch with other members, and to discuss the latest updates and upgrades pertaining to their mu-X SUVs.

IPC, which also joined the Bicol Express Caravan, has been proactive in fostering relationships with various Isuzu owners’ group through its attendance and participation in the clubs’ events and anniversary celebrations, seeing this as a way to improve Isuzu products and services.

“Direct communication with customers is a vital component of our operation,” said IPC Marketing Head Joseph Bautista. “Getting to talk to them, hearing their feedback, and witnessing first-hand the passion they have for their Isuzu models allow us to recognize the market’s desires and requirements.”

At the Bicol Express Caravan, where IPC hosted a buffet lunch and raffled off prizes, the mu-X Club learned more about and appreciated better the family-friendly features of their respective mu-X units. Almost all the members filled up their vehicles’ seven-seat capacity and huge cargo bay, with one vehicle even able to accommodate two more children in addition to the seven passengers on board. This highlighted the mu-X’s flexibility at seating people and carrying luggage, with additional cargo able to fit on vehicles that are equipped with roof rail-mounted cargo racks or compartments.

During the course of the three-day family adventure, this flexibility allowed the participants to visit the numerous attractions offered by the Southern Tagalog and Bicol regions. From the Bicol Express Caravan’s early-morning start on Day 1 at San Pedro, the mu-X Club members and families drove through the Batangas-Quezon Eco-Tourism Road on the way to a breakfast feast by the beachfront in Gumaca, Quezon. From there they headed to the Arch of Bicolandia for a photo shoot, and for lunch at a restaurant along Andaya Highway. A brief break at Petron Sipocot preceded their late-afternoon arrival in Naga City, where they stopped by the Basilica of the Our Lady of Peñafrancia, before checking in at the Amesola Spring Valley Resort.

On the second day, the group embarked on a family-oriented tour of Albay, visiting  Kawa-Kawa in Ligao, the Hoyop-Hoyopan Cave, and the iconic Cagsawa Ruins, the church that was almost completely buried during the 1814 eruption of Mount Mayon—which provides a spectacular backdrop for the church’s tower. After lunch, they proceeded to Legazpi Boulevard for a photo shoot, then to the public market for some pasalubong shopping, before the heading back to the resort in Naga.

After breakfast on early morning of Day 3, the club started their drive back to Manila, stopping for lunch in Calauag, Quezon, and later meeting up with some members of Team Isuzu Pilipinas’ Quezon chapter.

Ed de Jesus, head of mu-X Club, said the Bicol Express Caravan allowed the group to validate the features that they love about the mu-X, namely the SUV’s comfort, capacity for speed, driving performance and fuel economy. Also demonstrated during the trip were the vehicle’s reliability and durability, as well as the luxury provided by the mu-X’s numerous family-friendly items like multimedia entertainment and dual-zone air-conditioning.

  1. MuX is very slow...lonesomely boring on the long highway stretches and slow motion going uphill !

Nothing beats the speed, power and agility of VM Motori Duramax diesel from Chevy Colorado & Trailblazer !!!

    1. what will you do with speed if ur family is at stake? Kung gusto mo mauna eh di mauna ang Trailblazer mo.

  5. Colorado and TB's unmatched 200 Horsepower & 500Nm of Torque is simply overwhelming in their respective classes !

    1. How is it overwhelming sir? Na drive mo na ba lahat ng SUVs in this class? Did you perform objective tests? Perhaps you're simply looking at paper specs (while sitting in front of your computer and eating popcorn)?

Fyi, the 4x2 3.0 mu-x sells for only 1.42m. It already has all the bells and whistles of the 1.7m 4x2 2.4 V fortuner. That's roughly 300k diff!

It may not look as good as the other suvs in this class (especially the interior) but the mu-x offers the best value for your money.

      Value:
Proven engine and tranny (b10 rating)
      Fuel economy
      Best in class ride

  7. AGREE...

Truth hurts but the Duramax Engine of the TBlazer & Colorado is class leading. It blows off all other Suvs and Pickups Trucks in this segment. The 200Hp & 500Nm of torque and power is simply overpowering and unmatched !!!

  12. The Subaru's 350nm torque is girlish againts the Duramax's 500Nm. Travelling the rugged terrain of Benguets mountain trails, this smallish Suv would not make it back home.It will bury its occupants in the mud.

    1. There's a misconception of what torque and horsepower does to a vehicle. Torque is the potential to do work, while horsepower is a unit of work. Higher torque doesn't mean faster acceleration.

      Delete
    2. Also, there's a factor involving weight. At the end of the day, acceleration would be determined not just by engine output but also the weight and power-to-weight ratio plus the manner to which the transmission's gear ratios are poised.

Five years after ownership, it also matters if the car has burned your wallet with numerous repairs and if it has held good resale value.

  15. sir uly, suv ba yon forester o crossver..kasi parang pambabae?

    1. Forester is a crossover, but it doesn't mean it's for women. Much like any vehicle, it can be driven by either a man or a woman. I know a lot of women who drive Trailblazers or Fortuners or Montero Sports--they value the raised driving position.

  16. The lowly 163hp x 380nm power & torque from the primitve 4JJ1 engine annoyingly disappoints. That makes the Mux and Dmax always the whipping boy in the class !
