Ford Issues Recall on 2019 Mustang; Are Local Units Affected?

Ford is announcing recalls that cover close to 1.6 million units in North America, including one model that’s currently being sold in the Philippine market.

While the recalls of the Ford F-150 pickup trucks, Lincoln Continental luxury sedan, the Lincoln Nautilus and Lincoln Navigator luxury SUVs have nothing to do with the Philippine market, select 2019 Mustangs are included.

The defect, which results in the instrument panel appearing as blank upon start-up covers 2019 Mustang sportscars built from November 5, 2018 to January 15, 2019. Dealers will simply update the instrument panel cluster software to correct the problem.

We reached out to Ford Philippines to find out if the local Ford Mustangs are included in the said recall. To that end, they’ve issued the following statement:
“At this point, we are not aware of any units in the Philippines being affected.”
This should give current and would-be Mustang owners some welcome relief that they can continue to enjoy their sports cars without worrying that the instrument cluster will go blank on them.
