The Chinese brand with a global presence, Great Wall Motor, has officially launched in the Philippines under Luxuriant Automotive Group, Inc. (LAGI). Bringing forth a new experience through technology, and intelligence, Great Wall Motor starts off with a three-vehicle line-up, two of which are available with hybrid powertrains.
Both riding on GWM’s latest Intelligent Modular Architecture, the GWM Haval H6 serves as Great Wall Motor Philippines’ flagship model. The H6 HEV pairs a turbocharged 1.5-liter with two electric motors offering a combined output of 240 horsepower and 530 Nm of torque.
The GWM Haval H6 showcases the Oriental Futurism design concept with key features including the double auspice pattern grille, rising flame LED headlamps, and horizon rear LED taillamp. Inside, it showcases itself as a technology flagship with a 10.25-inch virtual instrument cluster, large smart touchscreen infotainment system, and an 8-speaker system.
It also offers an outstanding level of safety with features such as Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) with pedestrian and cyclist detection, Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Traffic Sign Recognition, and Fatigue Monitoring standard.
For the Philippine market, GWM Philippines is offering two variants, the GWM Haval H6 Max (P 1,788,000) and the GWM Haval H6 Supreme (P 1,883,000).
Both offer high level of comfort and convenience features, but the Haval H6 Supreme offers a larger touchscreen (12.3-inch versus 10.25-inch), powered front passenger seat, larger alloy wheels (19-inch versus 18-inch), and fully automatic parking assist.
For those who’re seeking a more individual ride, there’s the GWM Haval Jolion—the brand’s compact crossover offering.
Embodying intelligent thinking, the Haval Jolion comes either with a conventional turbocharged 1.5-liter or an electrified 1.5-liter engine. The former generates a 141 horsepower and 220 Nm mated to a 7-speed wet-type dual clutch, while the latter makes 186 horsepower and 375 Nm mated to a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission or DHT.
For the Philippine market, GWM Philippines is offering three variants of the Jolion Turbo and one variant of the Jolion HEV. Features including a large-format multimedia touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but the Jolion Plus (P 998,000) starts the range with fabric seats, manual seats, and halogen headlights. Moving up to the Jolion Max (P 1,128,000) adds digital gauges, leather seats, more airbags (2 versus 6), more speakers (4 versus 6), LED headlights, and dual zone climate control. Finally, the Jolion Supreme offers larger wheels (18 versus 17), wireless charging, powered driver’s seat, 360-degee camera, and ADAS for P 1,248,000. The same package plus the hybrid powertrain bumps up the price to P 1,588,000 with the Jolion Supreme HEV.
Finally, there’s the GWM Cannon. The pickup truck, powered by a 2.0-liter turbo diesel makes 161 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. All variants—whether 4x2 or 4x4—come with either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic. The 4x4 is unique in that it uses a torque-on-demand all-wheel drive system with low range.
The GWM Cannon comes in two series models, the C-Series and the P-Series. The former is designed more for business/commercial use, while the latter is more for personal use.
The C-Series starts at just P 998,000 for the 4x2 Pilot, while the 4x4 Pilot goes for P 1,118,000. Features include analog gauges with a 3.5-inch colored multi-info display, 6-way powered driver seat, leather steering wheel and leather seats. It also has a 9-inch infotainment system and convenience feature such as cruise control.
Meanwhile, the entry-level P-Series Lux (P 1,198,000 for the 4x2 and P 1,318,000 for the 4x4) drops some of the niceties but adds LED headlights, four-wheel disc brakes, larger wheels (18 versus 17), automatic climate control, and a front/rear camera.
The top-of-the-line SLux starts at P 1,358,000 for the 4x2 and tops out at P 1,498,000 for the 4x4. This variant arrives with a full digital instrument cluster, powered front seats, more speakers (6 versus 4), 360-degree camera, and a bevy of ADAS functionalities including adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure and lane keep assist, and blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert.
