Kia Sportage Turbo Hybrid Returns For 2027 With P 1.978M Starting Price (w/ Specs)

One of Kia’s most recognized nameplates is making a Philippine comeback. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back the Kia Sportage. With over 8 million units sold since the first-generation Sportage debuted in 1993, it’s been reinvented as a formidable compact SUV that offers performance, technology, design, and everyday practicality.

Here’s everything you need to know.

Can you start things off with the prices and variants?

For the Philippine market, the Kia Sportage comes in EX and SX variants. The EX variant is priced at P 1,978,000 (P 1.898,000 for a limited time), while the SX is priced at P 2,098,000. A total of four colors is available: Heritage Blue (SX only), Wolf Gray (EX and SX), Gravity Gray (EX and SX), and Snow White Pearl (EX and SX). The SX has an optional two tone interior and that sets you back P 2,128,000).

It comes with a 5-year or 160,000-kilometer bumper-to-bumper warranty and 24/7 roadside assistance. Its high-voltage battery is also protected by an 8-year or 160,000-kilometer battery warranty.

What’s under the hood?

For its 2027 model year return, the Sportage comes with a turbo hybrid powertrain mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission with cruise control as standard. Powering the front wheels, it makes a total of 235 horsepower and 367 Nm of torque—180 horsepower and 265 Nm from the combustion engine, and 65 horsepower and 264 Nm from the electric motor. Energy is stored in a 270-volt, 5.5 Ah, 1.49-kWh lithium-ion battery. It also has a 52-liter fuel tank.

If this setup sounds familiar, it should be. It’s the same one that powers the Sorento Turbo Hybrid. And because the Sportage Turbo Hybrid weighs around 1,733 kilograms or about 300 kilograms lighter, this should give the Sportage better performance and fuel efficiency.

How does the exterior look like?

The 2027 Sportage Turbo Hybrid takes on Kia’s “Opposites United” design philosophy. It blends seemingly contrasting elements such as the sleek, futuristic lighting with rugged, nature-inspired body work. Watch our local walkaround.

Whether it’s the EX or the SX, it comes standard with auto on/off projector-type LED headlights and DRLs. 18-inch machine finished alloy wheels with 235/60R18 tires fill the wheel wells and a power tailgate’s standard issue too. It also has power folding side view mirrors and a feature that’s becoming a rarity: front fog lights.

If you want to differentiate the EX and SX, it’s down to the design of the 18-inch machine finished wheels.

Any differences in the interior?

The Sportage Turbo Hybrid gets a generous range of standard features such as a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and 12.3-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, leather seats, dual zone climate control, and USB Type C ports.

As the higher trim variant, the SX is differentiated by the addition of power seat adjustment for the driver, interior mood lighting, a wireless charger for devices, and an 8-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.

How about safety?

The 2027 Sportage Turbo Hybrid has 6 SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill-start assist control, tire pressure monitoring, and a proper 17-inch steel-type spare tire. This is on top of front and rear parking sensors and a rearview camera.

If you’re looking for Kia Drivewise, the Advanced Driver Assistance System, you can only get that on the SX. This adds several functionalities such as adaptive cruise control, forward collision avoidance assist, lane keep assist, and blind spot collision avoidance assist.

  2. With a minimal 200k of a price difference. Better to settle for a sorento

  3. Smartly priced to undercut RAV4 and Tucson hybrid. This bodes well for the upcoming Seltos and EV3, which are also highly anticipated cars. I hope this is the beginning of a resurgent KIA.

  4. Why did KIA Sportage disappear from the local market for a very long time?

    1. I'm not 100% sure if applicable sa Sportage but many of the KIA/Hyundai models that recently went away and then came back eventually were because they were being shifted over to more shared platforms. It results into cheaper manufacturing and better parts availability for all owners.
