Is the DTI Ordering MMPC to Do a Recall of the 2010-2015 Montero Sport?
After a lengthy and conclusive report from a UK-based automotive engineering company released in January of this year, it looked like Mitsubishi Philippines (MMPC) will finally be able to put the Sudden Unintended Acceleration (SUA) issue of the Montero Sport behind them; that is until the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) threw a curve ball today. The DTI just issued a preliminary order to MMPC to recall all of 2010-2015 Montero Sport SUVs equipped with automatic transmissions.

Review: 2018 Mitsubishi Montero Sport 4WD GT
Forget the Mirage siblings, the Montero Sport is Mitsubishi’s bread-and-butter model in the Philippines. Shifting close to 20,000 units of them last year, the futuristic robot-like styling has become a regular sight on the roads. Above all, it’s opened up the mid-sized SUV category to people who wouldn’t consider them in the first place; people who would usually want something sleek or easy to drive. A week behind the top-of-the-line Montero Sport 4WD GT reveals this: it’s the 7-seater SUV that offers surprisingly good on-road manners, a well-thought-of safety package, and excellent value.

Review: 2023 Mitsubishi Montero Sport Black Series Ralliart 2WD
There’s no beating around the bush: the Mitsubishi Montero Sport is getting old. The current generation was first launched locally back in 2016 (it was subsequently refreshed in 2019) which means it’s now overshadowed by newer offerings. Yet, there’s still a strong, almost cult-like following for this particular mid-sized SUV, one which this Ralliart version aims to tap.

Review: 2020 Mitsubishi Montero Sport 4WD GT
The arrival of the Xpander has put a lot less pressure on the Montero Sport, particularly when it comes to its market positioning. Before, Mitsubishi has had to offer a dizzying array of variants including three engine choices, two gearboxes, and four trims. With the arrival of their MPV though, they’ve managed to trim back the Monty variants to a more manageable four with one manual (GLX), and three automatics (GLS, 2WD GT, and 4WD GT); all powered by the same 2.4-liter MIVEC diesel. In the greater scheme of things though, this has enabled them to position their mid-sized SUV as a technology leader of sorts. The question is: would this be enough to entice the typical SUV buyer?

Review: 2016 Mitsubishi Montero Sport GLS Premium
Mid-sized SUVs are a necessary evil in the Philippines. Not only do they provide enough space to ferry the entire clan, but they provide the water wading capability so necessary for flood-prone streets. Yet, there are some who cannot accept them for their lack of driving dynamics and refinement. Enthusiasts were beginning to dismiss them until the all-new Mitsubishi Montero Sport arrived. Categorically, this is the best mid-sized SUV out there.
