All-Electric Nissan Leaf Coming to Philippines in 2020

The new Nissan Leaf will go on sale in Indonesia and the Philippines by 2020, underscoring Nissan’s commitment to drive electrification in the region. The expanded availability of the world’s best-selling electric vehicle is an important part of Nissan’s goal to electrify one fourth of its sales volume under its midterm plan, Nissan M.O.V.E. to 2022. The acceleration plan also includes assembly and localization of electrification components in key Southeast Asian markets.

After a lengthy tease, Suzuki Philippines is now officially unveiling the all-new, fourth-generation Jimny. Continuing its nameplate’s world-renowned attribute of having a simple yet rugged design, this all-new small SUV is destined not just to conquer city streets, but any trail or jungle as well.

You would think all the MX-5 stories worth telling have already been told. Yes, it’s attention-grabbing (KODO). Yes, it’s a great drive (Jinba-Ittai). And yes, it now appeals to more than just middle-aged men and hair dressers (personal observation). But then, Mazda digs deep and comes up with the 2019 model. Though it doesn’t look that radically different (spoiler alert: it’s pretty much the same car), but that new engine, BBS wheels, Recaro seats, and the available Soul Red Crystal paint job? Hnnnnnnnggggg.

Hyundai has revealed the first photos of the eighth-generation 2020 Sonata, an executive sedan that’s now taken a decidedly four-door coupe look. 2019 Suzuki Jimny is a Finalist for World Car Design of the Year

At the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, the World Car of the Year announced the “Top Three in the World” finalists. The jury, made of 86 distinguished automotive journalists from around the world continued to whittle down the list by secret ballot based on their evaluation with each candidate as part of their professional work.

This is the Engelberg Tourer, Mitsubishi’s next-generation crossover which, quite frankly, has styling only its own mother could love. It’s named after the famous ski resort in central Switzerland but sadly, none of the typical Swiss design sensibilities made it to this three-row crossover.

Aston Martin is giving the world a glimpse of its next-generation mid-engined supercar and with that, brings back the Vanquish nameplate once more. Shown in concept form at the Geneva Motor Show, it shows how Aston Martin plans to bring its supercar to the forefront of its second-century plan and one that stands proud alongside the likes of the Valkyrie and Lagonda SUV.

Toyota’s not done with the Supra just yet. After unveiling it for the first time in January and then telling everyone that the 2019 production run’s all spoken for, the Japanese carmaker says it’s ready to take its new sportscar racing with the Toyota GR Supra GT4.

Nissan e-POWER is Now Going Global

Nissan is taking the first concrete steps to electrify the world by announcing that its e-POWER drivetrain will now be made available outside of its home market of Japan for the first time.

Okay, you know Subaru designers are running out of ideas when they’ve decided that their bolder design concept is called, BOLDER (yes, in all caps). Sadly, the new VIZIV Adrenaline Concept is anything bold.

Mazda unveiled the second next-generation model underpinned by the Skyactiv-Vehicle Architecture: the CX-30. Poised to replace the CX-3 sub-compact SUV or at least positioned above it, the 2019 CX-30 grows significantly from its current size while taking on a bolder design concept and sportier driving dynamics, both hallmarks of the Mazda brand.

Last January, Hyundai teased everyone with the near-production concept of using fingerprints as a way to open and start a car. While they promise that the technology will roll out in selected markets, beginning with the Santa Fe, they’ve also turned their attention to using mobile phones to act as car keys as well.
