Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) announced its line-up of automobiles for display in the 4th CAMPI Philippine International Motor Show to be held at the World Trade Center, Pasay City from Thursday, August 16 to Sunday, August 19, 2012.

At this motor show, the booth concept of Honda is “Joy of Mobility”, which originated from founder Soichiro Honda’s dream to provide joy to people by enhancing their personal mobility. Through this, people’s interaction with one another is enriched. Through the years, Honda continues to increase the joy of mobility it provides by always improving the value of each product it creates through new technology, added convenience and utility and high levels of safety and quality.

For the 4th Philippine International Motor Show, Honda will display its much anticipated hybrid models that provide joy of mobility by combining eco-friendly and fun-to-drive. Also, production models installed with Modulo will be displayed, which provides joy of mobility through the personalization of customers’ vehicles. Finally, stock production models the all-new CR-V and all-new Odyssey will be displayed, which provide a new level of joy of mobility in the compact SUV and family mini-van categories.

Hybrids

CR-Z  (installed with MUGEN accessories)

Honda will display for the first time in the Philippines its CR-Z hybrid vehicle. CR-Z stands for “Compact Renaissance Zero”, which represents Honda’s commitment to go back to the point of origin (zero) to take on the challenge to create a new compact car without being bound by the values of traditional coupes.

Based on Honda’s passion to broaden the potential for a hybrid vehicle and enable customers to experience a new kind of excitement with all of their senses, CR-Z was developed offering three core values – Emotional (emotional look and feel), Exciting (make people want to enjoy driving) and Smart (environmentally responsible, useful and liberating). To achieve these three values in all areas of this vehicle, including design, packaging and performance, Honda applied its most advanced technologies.

The CR-Z’s original compact hybrid system uses a gasoline engine as the main source of power with an electric motor providing power assist as needed, resulting in outstanding fuel economy and low emissions. Providing strong power assist at lower speeds, Honda's Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) joins Honda's newly developed 4-cylinder, 16-valve, 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine. Together, they provide maximum torque at 1,000 - 1,500 rpm and strain-free acceleration on into the high rpm range. In combination with the CR-Z's lightweight body, this powertrain produces the acceleration feel of a higher displacement gasoline engine while offering outstanding fuel economy.

The CR-Z is the first model to feature Honda’s three-mode driving system, which enables the driver to choose SPORT, NORMAL or ECON modes depending on the driver’s driving style and/or driving situation such as in the city, on the freeway or on winding roads.

The CR-Z also features the world’s first 6-speed manual transmission on a hybrid vehicle, which enhances driving enjoyment.

Lastly, to further highlight its sporty characteristics, the CR-Z will have MUGEN accessories installed. MUGEN is well-known worldwide as an engine tuner and parts manufacturer. It develops, manufactures, and sells accessories and tuning parts exclusively for Honda automobiles and motorcycles.

Honda is currently studying the possibility of introducing the CR-Z in the Philippine market while also closely monitoring the progress of the hybrid vehicles incentive bill currently undergoing deliberation in Congress.

Insight

Honda will also display for the first time in the Philippines its Insight hybrid vehicle. The Insight is a passenger 5-door dedicated hybrid vehicle with distinctive styling, packaging 1.3-liter 4-cylinder i-VTEC engine with the latest generation of Honda’s Integrated Motor Assist (IMA). An advanced aerodynamic design not only enhances fuel efficiency, it also gives the new Insight its sleek, futuristic style - clearly identifiable as a hybrid. The Insight is equipped with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), which provides superior fuel efficiency against a conventional automatic transmission with gears.

The Insight is the first Honda vehicle to feature Honda’s Eco Assist System. The Eco Assist combines the following functions:
  1. A driver-activated ECON mode that optimizes control of the continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), engine and related powertrain components to further improve vehicle fuel efficiency;
  2. A driver feedback function that uses an innovative speedometer display with changing background colors to provide real-time guidance to the driver on achieving higher fuel efficiency; and
  3. A unique fuel-economy scoring function using a plant-leaf graphic to provide feedback to the driver on current-trip driving efficiency and lifetime fuel-efficient driving performance.
Similar to the CR-Z, Honda is currently studying the possibility of introducing the Insight in the Philippine market while also closely monitoring the progress of the hybrid vehicles incentive bill currently undergoing deliberation in Congress.

Modulo Accessories

Honda will display its production models new City and the all-new Civic installed with the Modulo accessories, Honda’s genuine accessory brand. Modulo accessories are developed in parallel with Honda’s new car development. This assures Modulo accessories with an optimum level of design, functionality and quality unmatched by non-genuine aftermarket accessories.

Others

CR-V

As one of the pioneer models in the compact SUV category, the CR-V continues to provide car-like drivability and ride comfort, while also having excellent interior versatility and utility. The all-new 4th generation CR-V builds on these qualities while introducing new technology to enhance driving enjoyment and ownership experience. With a bold and sophisticated design and equipped with new features such as the Eco Assist System that contributes to improved fuel efficiency and the One-Pull Fold Down Rear Seats and Cruise Control for added convenience, the all-new CR-V will make customers re-think what they know about the usual SUV.

Odyssey

The all-new Odyssey is a luxurious family vehicle that combines chic new styling with its distinctive “lightning bolt” side profile, class-leading performance with its 3.5-liter V6 engine equipped with Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) that automatically deactivates 2 or 3 cylinders according to driving conditions to save fuel, advance family safety such as the side curtain airbags for all 3 passenger rows, and ultimate utility with the 3rd row Magic Seats that allow it to be tucked away completely or partially to increase cargo space.

Through these displays, Honda would like to provide Philippine society with a diverse “Joy of Mobility”. For more information on the Honda booth and product displays, please visit us at www.hondaphil.com.
