Manila Auto Salon 2012: Racing with Legends
Manila’s premiere styling and tuning show, the 6th MANILA AUTO SALON opens its gates again on November 29 to December 2, 2012 at the SMX Convention Center , Mall of Asia in Pasay City with a legendary twist.
“Racing With Legends” is a documentary, which for the first time ever, shows the great racing events that transpired during the Golden Age of Philippine motor sports and tells about the pioneering spirits of the race car drivers and organizers of that special era.
“We proudly host the promotional launch of the ‘Racing with Legends’ documentary DVD at the Manila Auto Salon where pre-ordering of the film will happen,” expressed event organizer Sophie de los Santos. “The connection of this special movie to the fans who visit the MANILA AUTO SALON is electric! Even if it happened in an era when perhaps, some of the competitors and participants in the show were not even born yet, it gives a glimpse into why we Filipinos are so enamoured with our cars. We will have a special exhibit for this featuring our racing legends which will highlight the exploits of such names as Dodjie Laurel, 2-time Macau Grand Prix Champion who perished in a fatal crash in 1967; the much-loved “Old Man of Racing” the late Jose “Pocholo” Ramirez, Butch Viola, Chito Monserrat, Joey Bundalian among many others. Toyota racing champion Dante Silverio and Mercedes Benz rallye driver Paquito “Paco” Ventura are expected to grace the event to meet and greet racing enthusiasts,
Every year the MANILA AUTO SALON brings out the best and the brightest in the car tuning scene in the country. Launching the “Racing With Legends” documentary further cements the show as the most diverse in scope and exhibits.
“It’s an industry reunion each time,” comments Sam Liuson, better known as the “godfather” of the “Aftermarket Mafia” on the MANILA AUTO SALON Facebook page. This reunion now includes that of the Filipino racing legends through the “Racing With Legends” launch.
For 2012, the proximate distance from another Tradeshow International organized crowd drawing event--the 20th Defense and Sporting Arms Show—brings a total market size to about 100,000 spectators. The gun show is being held simultaneously with MANILA AUTO SALON for the first time -- another perfect opportunity for competitors and sponsors alike to build lasting relationships with the target market.
