Subaru BRZ Goes Racing in Japan with RA

Subaru is readying a racing-spec version of the BRZ straight from the assembly line. In fact, it's made to compete in the upcoming GAZOO Racing 86/BRZ Race series starting in Summer of 2013. Sadly, the just-announced BRZ RA will be offered for the Japanese domestic market only.

Wannabe racers who opt for the Subaru BRZ RA gets added brake ducts beneath the front facia as well as vented front and rear disc brakes. In addition, you get removable competition-spec removable tow hooks and an oil cooler located behind the grille. The BRZ RA rides on 16-inch steel wheels, but the intention is that racers will opt to get their own set of light-weight alloy wheels and tires.

Inside, the BRZ RA still gets air conditioning (manual A/C) but lets its radio go. In return, it gets a six-point FIA specification roll cage and custom-fit floor mats that clear the said roll cage. Drivers will also get a four-point safety harness.

Although Subaru has made no mention to modifications to the BRZ's engine or transmission, all these race-ready modifications add only US$ 350 (~ PHP 14,700) to the BRZ's list price.
