ICON: Hyundai Azera Makes Philippine Return

Like the inspired strokes of an artist, deliberate in every curve, and every element, the all-new Hyundai Azera is an automotive piece of art where every part, shape, composition and design is beautiful.  Authoritative and confident standing still and in motion, it brings in a new era of Hyundai in the premium sedan category and benchmarks another engineering feat in the automotive world.

Poetry in Power and Confidence

In the language of "Fluidic Sculpture," the Azera conveys power, grace and confidence.  Whether from the front, side or back, the Azera makes a dramatic first impression, striking a poetic silhouette with strong hood lines, LED-lighted Headlamps and an eye-catching, wing-shaped Radiator Grille to heighten the Azera’s luxuriousness. Heated Side Mirrors with Repeaters not only prevent fogging, enhance visibility and promote safer driving, but they also unfold automatically within a certain distance of the smart key to conveniently get the driver started.

Large 19-inch wheels maximize the thrill of sporty and dynamic driving and also provide outstanding braking.  Moving to rear of the Azera, a high-mounted LED Stop Lamp, wrap-around LED Rear Lamps and Dual Exhaust Mufflers complete the Azera’s dynamic, luxurious rear design.

The art of brilliant driving

Fuel efficient and environmentally conscious yet with luxuries to indulge in, the Azera is powered with a 3.0L V6 Lambda engine producing a maximum power output of 250 ps at 6,400 rpm.  Mated to 6-speed automatic transmission, the Azera’s potent performance is harnessed in smooth, virtually effortless gearshifts. This engineering feat was developed using proprietary Hyundai Motor Company (HMC) technology. A design beyond its time, this signature 6-speed automatic transmission is made compact and lightweight for smoother, quieter, and more efficient operation for better fuel economy.

Cruising down the road with the Azera is not only made smoother but smarter, too, with its Smart cruise control, which has a radar sensor that monitors the car’s distance with other vehicles and automatically keeps it to a safe distance by controlling the engine and braking operation.  If the car in front of you stops and pulls away within three seconds, Smart cruise control will deem it safe for you to advance automatically.  It’s a feature that instinctively thinks of how you should drive safely and responsibly, keeping you always in control of the drive.

In the mood for luxury

Come inside the Azera’s charming interior and feel like you wouldn’t want to leave at all. With a spacious layout that’s a class all its own, luxurious appointments, switches, and finishes that mirror your own quiet elegance and personal style, the Azera lets you have the best seat in the house.  And why not?  This cabin is built with your comfort in mind.

As you step into the Azera’s cabin, luxurious lamps at the door scuffs light up when the door is opened, right away giving you that warm, welcoming feeling.

Interior seats are incredibly opulent, thanks to the Nappa leather seat finish, which is supple in feel, yet strong and durable enough to give the highest seating comfort for driver and passenger.  This material is also eco-friendly with the use of anti-bacterial seat made from Cardanol oil extract, a 100% recyclable material.

The 12-way power driver’s seat offers more than standard adjustments. You can extend the front cushion for better thigh support while you drive. The system stores the preferred seat and side mirror settings for two. Just set it using the driver’s seat adjustment switch that is intuitively fitted onto the door trim.  The driver’s seat is likewise fitted with 4-way lumbar support and stretching function for a more comfortable seating position.

Care for a more relaxing driving experience?  Let the Azera’s Active Driver Seat take care of that.  Its Active Driver Seat is installed with special tensioning cables that act as an automatic massage system to reduce back pains or to prevent drowsiness, which is particularly helpful during long drives.  When in General Mode, all four cables are employed, focusing on the lower section of the upper body.  On Focused Mode, two cables apply pressure on the lumbar area.  Its operating time is 15 minutes per cycle, providing you premium seating comfort no matter how long the journey gets. The driver’s seat also allows air to circulate naturally in it, making the drive even more relaxing.

Subtle lighting inside the cabin, on the crash pad, door trims, and LED lighting in the center tray and cup holder covers add an even more sophisticated touch to the Azera’s premium personality.

Let the Azera come to life with a mere push of a button.  Stay focused on the road and never fuss over controls and buttons again with the steering wheel fitted with control buttons for audio and cruise control.

The Infinity sound system delivers premium audio quality for sheer listening pleasure.  USB port and auxiliary input are built-in, so you can enjoy the music that you have stored in portable music gadgets or personal computers.

Set the cabin temperature to your liking with the Azera’s dual full auto airconditioning that has separate temperature controls for driver and passenger. And for a more refreshing drive, the cluster ionizer and electronic variable compressor keep the air inside is clean.

Side curtains in the rear side windows and electronic rear curtain help block the sun’s heat, keep the cabin temperature cool, and protect passenger privacy.

Keep beverages within reach at the bottle holders on all door panels. You can also stash your drinks in the cooling glove box to keep them refreshing, just the way you like them.

Beauty in safety

From power in design and performance, the Azera gives you more confidence in terms of safety. One of the features that make the Azera tops in safety is the Electronic Stability Program (ESP), a system that guides the vehicle according to the driver’s intentions by comparing the driver’s intended course of direction with the actual direction. This way, the car is kept on course even when it makes sudden turns, making the ride safe and secure.

What’s more, Hyundai equipped the Azera with “perfect-force airbags.” This system features depowered airbags on the driver and front passenger seats that are deployed at reduced force. Side and curtain airbags are likewise installed for additional protection.  The new knee airbag as a supplementary safety feature comes in handy in the event of a head-on collision.

The Azera’s rear seats are not only cozy—they protect passengers as well. Structurally optimized, the rear seats were designed to increase shock absorption during rear collision to help minimize passenger injuries.

Braking power is enhanced with the Azera’s larger front wheel disc brakes, while the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) is designed to automatically activate when the vehicle stops to prevent the car from rolling or sliding when restarting on a hill.

Other safety features that heighten the Azera’s safety profile include a parking assist system that sounds an alarm when the car comes near obstacles when parking, an Electro-Chromic Mirror (ECM) that helps reduce headlight glare from the vehicles behind, and an auto defogging system that provides for better visibility as it automatically removes moisture buildup.

Art in style, art in motion.  The all-new Hyundai Azera makes for a confident new drive for the discerning motorist who deserves all the best life has to offer.

Drive the story of the new you today with the all-new Hyundai Azera.

  1. your description of the Azera is thorough and complete with all the details, but what we are really interested in are when will it be available and how much,if its priced below the Camry and Accord 3.5 they should have no problem selling each and everyone they bring in

    1. So far no indication on price. Given how Hyundai prices the Azera though, don't be surprised if this car breaks P 2-M or thereabouts. Remember, the Genesis sedan costs P 3-M already.

  2. The way I look at it Hyundai won't be foolish enough to price the Azera more than 2 million knowing the Accord/Camry V6 are 3.5 while the Azera has only a 3 Liter to show, I know the Azera is actually a bigger car, in the class of the new Lexus ES and the Toyoya Avalon, I think Hyundai is deliberately bringing in the smaller engine instead of the 3.8 liter so they can price it to compete with the Japanese favorably, I for one would pick the Azera over the Accord/Camry V6s if they are priced identically

  3. I asked the guys at Hyundai (HARI) and they said na the new Azera is available for Indent Order. Three units will be making its way raw into the country next month and apparently all have been accounted for.

Oh and to Anonymous who mentioned the engine:

    Apparently:
If you check the Hyundai Worldwide website:
    http://worldwide.hyundai.com/WW/Showroom/Cars/Azera/PIP/index.html

You will notice that there are only two engine offerings for the new Azera (global version):
    -2.4 liter Theta II engine
    -3.0 liter Lambda V6 engine

All of those two engines are MPI (Multi Port Injection) units.

There is a 3.3 liter Lambda V6 engine with 293 hp or so...........BUT it is only available for South Korea (Grandeur HG330 CELEBRITY) and the United States (Azera 3.3 V6).

Plus the fact that it's a GDI engine (Gasoline Direct Injection) means na hindi ito dadalhin ng HARI and that Hyundai Korea will also feel hesitant to send GDI engines to the Philippine market because they feel na we're not ready yet.

So yun, for all global markets (outside of South Korea and USA), 2.4 liter MPI and 3.0 liter V6 MPI lang ang offered.

  4. I stand corrected on the engines of the Azera, the previous model which was available briefly here had the 3.3 while elsewhere the 3.8 was the norm,it was first listed at 1.9M then lowered to 1.7M and finally 1.5M just to get rid of the remaining units, that could be the reason they are hesitant in bringing in the new model, they should not worry as the new Azera looks sensational and is truly world class, its the price that determines whether it will be accepted here.

  5. bakit namin hindi pa tayo ready kung GDI engine ito? I really don't know the answer. can someone please answer this question.

    1. Hyundai so far can't bring in their GDI engines because of our gasoline quality.

    2. what would be the ideal gas for the azera? I am really a fan of this car been doing a lot of youtube about this car and I am really impressed. we have 100+ octane rating here in the Philippines isn't that good enough for the azera? thank you for your answer sir Ulysses!

    3. It has little to do with octane ratings I'm afraid.

According to a lot of car manufacturers, it more to do with the cleanliness such as the additives they put in and stuff. After separate press cons from the Big Three, they're all pointing the blame on smaller gas players.

Big manufacturers like Hyundai or even Volkswagen can only bring in clean gasoline technology if everyone cleans up their act. They don't want to sell a car that will bog down due to dirty fuels especially in provinces.

  6. Although Direct Injection provides more power and efficiency, a carbon build-up occurs in the intake valves that over time reduces the airflow to the cylinders, and therefore reduces power. Fuel contains various detergents and can keep the intakes clean. When fuel is no longer being sprayed in the intake valves, small amounts of dirt from intake air cakes on the intake walls, even with air filters that prevent most of the dirt from entering the cylinder.[67] This build-up can become severe enough that a piece can break off and has been known to burn holes in catalytic converters.[68] It can also cause sporadic ignition failures.[68] These problems have been known for some time and technologies have been improved to reduce the carbon build-up. -wiki
