Ford Philippines Reports Best-Ever May Performance, Sales Jump 82 Percent

Ford Philippines today reported its best-ever performance for the month of May with overall retail sales jumping 82 percent year-over-year to 1,230 units. The exceptional month was driven by the best-ever performance of the all-new Ford Ranger and continued strength in demand across the entire Ford lineup.

Ford’s year-to-date retail sales through May have also risen 82 percent to 5,016 vehicles, making it the country’s fastest growing automotive brand this year.

"Our full range of segment-leading One Ford vehicles in the Philippines is continuing to attract customers across the country – customers who appreciate the smart technologies, fuel efficiency, safety and quality of our vehicles – which is helping drive our ongoing sales momentum this year,” said Kay Hart, managing director, Ford Philippines.

Strong demand in May for the class-defining all-new Ranger helped drive record sales for the second consecutive month of 449 units. The all-new Ranger is Ford’s best-selling nameplate in the Philippines, and overall retail sales have now reached 1,586 units.

In April, Ford expanded the Ranger lineup to ten class-leading variants including the range-topping all-new Ranger Wildtrak, plus a number of variants especially suited for fleet customers.

“The unmatched versatility and capability of this extraordinary truck has redefined the compact pickup segment, and is helping drive its wide appeal in the market,” said Hart.

The Ford Explorer delivered another strong month in May with retail sales rising 36 percent to 114 units. Ford upgraded the Explorer lineup in the Philippines in April with the introduction of the 2.0L Explorer Limited with EcoBoost and 3.5L Explorer Limited Plus.

The popular Ford Everest family SUV turned in a solid performance in May with retail sales more than doubling year-over-year to 215 units.

Sales of Ford’s cars also delivered a robust monthly performance in May, with the segment-leading Ford Fiesta delivering retail sales of 260 units – representing its best month of the year.

“The Fiesta continues to be one of our best-selling nameplates in the Philippines, and we expect the launch of the new Fiesta will help further drive its popularity,” explained Hart.

Demand for the all-new Focus in May helped its total sales year-to-date reach 402 units - a 39 percent increase versus the previous generation Focus in the same period a year ago.

The all-new Focus continues to attract many new-to-Ford customers with its segment-first smart technologies, including Active Park Assist, Active City Stop and Blind Spot Information System, as well as a class-leading safety package.

Ford also delivered another 10 units of the iconic Mustang sports car in May, bringing overall customer deliveries since its launch in the Philippines to 227 units.

As sales across its product lineup continue to grow, Ford remains committed to further enhancing its customer experience, which includes accessibility from an even wider network of nationwide coverage.

Ford Manila Bay will celebrate its grand opening this month, marking the ninth new Ford dealership to open within the last nine months, and keeping Ford on track to expand its nationwide dealer network to 35 locations by year-end.

“With the introduction of more segment-leading One Ford vehicles and a growing network of authorized Ford dealerships, we remain absolutely committed to growing our business and welcoming even more new-to-Ford customers to our showrooms across the Philippines,” said Hart.
