Ford Philippines Sales Rise 44 Percent; All-New Ranger Continues to Drive Overall Growth

Following a month that saw severe storms impact the country for a second consecutive year, Ford Philippines today reported August retail sales that rose 44 percent year-over-year to 826 units, driven by continued strength in demand for the class-defining all-new Ford Ranger.

Ford continues to be the country’s fastest growing automotive brand in 2013 with year-to-date retail sales rising 79 percent through August to 8,360 units.

“Despite the impact of the heavy monsoon season in August, we continued to see strong interest for our full lineup of segment-leading Ford vehicles at showrooms across the country, helping further drive our performance this year,” said Kay Hart, managing director, Ford Philippines.

The all-new Ranger continues to be Ford’s best-selling nameplate in the Philippines this year. The class-defining pickup truck delivered retail sales of 323 units in August, with overall year-to-date sales reaching 2,774 units.

“The unmatched versatility and capability of this extraordinary truck is helping drive its wide appeal among our expanding base of customers in the Philippines,” said Hart.

The popular Ford Everest family SUV delivered retail sales of 167 units in August, helping drive its year-to-date sales total up 104 percent to 1,726 units.

Strong customer response to the upgraded Ford Explorer lineup has helped year-to-date retail sales more than double to 690 units, including 99 units during the month of August.

Sales of Ford’s cars also contributed to the Company’s performance in August.

Last month, Ford launched the new Fiesta featuring the global 1.5L Ti-VCT engine. The new Ford Fiesta is available in a total of eight variants, including both 5-door hatchback and 4-door sedan models.

“We are absolutely confident the new Fiesta will remain one of the clear leaders of the small car segment by delivering an unmatched combination of fuel efficiency, safety and smart technologies – helping further drive its popularity in the Philippines and we look forward to its first full month of sales in September,” said Hart.

The technology-packed all-new Ford Focus turned in retail sales of 76 units in August, helping its year-to-date sales increase 79 percent to 677 units.

In August, the Ford Mustang sports car enjoyed sales of 13 units, bringing overall customer deliveries since its launch in the Philippines to 284 units.

Ford continues to build on its commitment to further enhance its customer experience, which includes customer convenience from an even wider network of nationwide coverage.

Since October, Ford has established dealerships in Cainta, Bohol, Butuan, Ilocos Norte, Isabela, Makati, Manila Bay, Naga and Tarlac, bringing its current number of authorized dealerships to 32.

This week, Ford will celebrate the opening of Ford General Santos, its tenth new dealership to open in less than one year.

Over the next four months, Ford plans to establish dealerships in Baguio and Zamboanga, expanding its dealership network to 35 by the end of the year.
