Tokyo Motor Show 2013: Honda Shows Jazz-Based Crossover, Ability to Think Outside the Box

Photos by Ulysses Ang
Honda has already teased some information of the concepts it displayed at the 43rd Tokyo Motor Show 2013 even before the show started. But what surprised everyone is the reveal of Honda's new segment busting crossover, the Jazz/Fit-based Vezel.

Shown in hybrid guise at the show, the Vezel will be on-sale in Japan by December 20. Before then, more details about the Vezel will be made available on December 19. Though we'll have to wait in a few weeks time for the details, the Vezel will be made available in both gasoline and gasoline-electric hybrid, both using a 1.5-liter direct-injection gasoline engine. The engine is mated to Honda's new Sport Hybrid i-DCD which stands for "Intelligent Dual Clutch Drive".

The Jazz/Fit-based Vezel features a CR-V-like front-end but with "hidden" rear door handles. Honda also announced that the Vezel will be sold in Europe sometime in 2015 and for the rest of the world soon thereafter.

In other Honda news at the Tokyo Motor Show, they've also said that they're working on a new kei car based off the S660 Concept also seen at the show.
