Lamborghini Huracán Replaces the Iconic Gallardo

Lamborghini unveiled the successor to the highly-successful Gallardo—the Huracán. Like other Lamborghini models, the Huracán is named after a famous Spanish fighting bull—this one named after the Spanish Conte dela Patilla breed that fought in August 1879.

The Huracán takes its design cues from the Gallardo but adding some of the newer Lamborghini elements seen in the Aventador. The Huracán is filled with sharp edges, very monolithic, and precise in its design. The entire profile is defined by a single line that merges the front with the cockpit and the rear of the car. The Huracán is also equipped with full LED illumination.

Inside, the Huracán features a very driver-centric cockpit featuring a 12.3-inch full-color TFT instrument panel. It also features Nappa leather and Alcantara. Several color combinations are available to suit the discerning buyer.

The Huracán is systematically lightweight at just 1,422 kilograms thanks to a hybrid carbon/aluminum structure. It’s powered by a 5.2-liter V10 engine with a maximum output of 610 horsepower and 560 Nm of torque. It also features Diretta Stratificata (IDS) that combines both direct and indirect gasoline injection. This means the Huracán can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds and rocket to 200 km/h in just 9.9 seconds. Equipped with idle start/stop technology, it can still manage around 8 km/L. The Huracán features a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox with a fully electronically-controlled all-wheel drive system.

Finally, the Huracán has a driving dynamics selector switch in the steering wheel that can switch between one of three set-ups: STRADA, SPORT, and CORSA. This modifies the behavior of the Huracán to suit different driving environments.
