Ford Focus Remains World's Best-Selling Nameplate; Gets Updated for 2015

Ford Motor Company has revealed that its compact car, the Focus, remains the world’s best-selling nameplate according to Polk Automotive’s new vehicle registration data for the 2013 calendar year. This growth has been fueled by markets such as China which has seen Focus sales grow as much as 50 percent. And not wanting to rest on their laurels, Ford has unveiled a refreshed version of their four-door model at the 2014 New York International Auto Show.

In a nutshell, the refreshed Focus features Ford’s new signature family face with a power dome hood and large grille. The outboard triangular air intakes are now gone and replacing it is a clearer, sleeker bumper design. The headlights contain new LED lighting elements which are matched at the back. The transformation’s completed with a restyled trunk lid. Inside, the Focus receives a new center console which incorporates adjustable cup holders. Plus, new satin chrome detailing, trims, and switches add a more premium touch.

The Focus is also available with Ford’s revolutionary 1.0-liter 3-cylinder EcoBoost turbo engine mated solely (at least for the US) to a 6-speed manual transmission. The Focus also improves on interior quietness with thicker carpets, side glass windows, and improved engine bay insulation. For those opting for an automatic, Ford is now offering the convenience of steering wheel mounted paddle shifters on some models.

Ford will complete the Focus refresh later in the year as it unveils the new version of the Focus ST.
