The 2015 Nissan NP300 Navara: This is It

Well, the cat’s out of the bag. Officially. Nissan has unveiled its all-new, 12th generation pick-up truck, the Navara (officially known as the NP300 Navara). This new global market model is backed-up by Nissan’s 80-history in the pick-up truck genre and promises to meet the demands of individuals and business owners alike.

The all-new NP300 Navara boasts of better fuel economy, improved performance, a more rigid frame, and more importantly to owners, lower running costs.

In terms of design, the NP300 Navara is highlighted by a higher ground clearance, lower roof height, and larger loading area. Nissan’s distinctive design DNA is present and gives the NP300 Navara’s a unique curvaceous character—a rarity in the pick-up segment. The door section has a dynamic convex and concave surface that’s energetic along with the massively sculpted fenders. Nissan’s signature “V-motion” face flows from the grille onto the hood and through the front fender. The NP300 Navara also has boomerang-shaped LED daytime running lights that give it a prominent and distinctive impression. Chrome trimming at the waist line moldings and turn indicators mounted on the door mirrors as well as the availability of funky colors such as Savannah Yellow and Earth Bronze give the NP300 Navara an urban vibe.

Inside, the NP300 Navara features a three-dimensional cabin that gives a feeling of spaciousness. Nissan says their new pick-up truck represents a new quality benchmark in the segment and boasts of finely-designed meters, a chunky steering wheel, and aluminum-like finish on the center cluster and console. The NP300 Navara gains a very SUV-like interior with an intuitive ergonomic design as well.

The dashboard sports multiple easy-to-read dials, plus a large center console with a full array of intuitive features that combine with steering wheel controls to enable easy and safe use while driving. Included are high-resolution color TFT instrument displays with access to compass and turn-by-turn navigation support, fuel economy indicator and audio track and radio content. Customization features provide driver assistance in a variety of languages, as well as alerts, maintenance reminders and more.

Despite its luxurious cabin and dynamic exterior, the NP300 Navara has been designed and developed to be a dependable workhorse. Underneath it is a high-strength chassis engineered to take on the punishment of intensive dialy usage. In addition, the NP300 Navara has a reduced turning circle for improved maneuverability.

The NP300 Navara’s drivetrain features an improved version of a 2.5-liter DOHC 4-cylinder diesel or gasoline engine. The new 2.5-liter diesel features an output ranging from 160 to 187 horsepower and a maximum torque between 403 Nm to 450 Nm. The 11 percent improvement over the previous model is due to a higher boost from the turbocharger which now has an electrical actuator. The NP300 Navara also has a shift-on-the-fly 4x4 system. It also has VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control) system which helps improve 4x4 driving performance and safety, along with ABLS (Active Brake Limited Slip), HSA (Hill Start Assist) and HDC (Hill Descent Control).

Boosting the NP300 Navara’s fuel efficiency further is the introduction of a new 7-speed automatic transmission along with a more traditional 6-speed manual. The 7-speed automatic provides better acceleration as well as expanded gear ratio for wider range of speeds and smoother acceleration.

The all-new Nissan NP300 Navara has already been given its Thailand debut. A Philippine preview could happen as soon as the Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) this September with sales starting sometime next year.

  1. I was excited when Nissan announced that the new Nissan X Trail would be arriving to the Phil. But when I learned that it does not have side and curtain airbags, I crossed it from my list. I am hoping that Nissan would be smart to at least give consumers the choice of paying for the side and curtain airbags. And we the consumers should let Nissan Phil know that our safety is one of the primary considerations when choosing a car. Airbags save lives.
