Mazda Philippines Turns Over MX-5 Anniversary Edition to Owners

Mazda’s exclusive distributor in the Philippines, Berjaya Auto Philippines, turned over 15 of the 25 limited edition MX-5 Anniversary Edition to owners in a simple ceremony held at the company’s new vehicle stockyard in Batino, Laguna.

“This is perhaps the only time when you’ll see customers drive off their new cars straight from our vehicle stockyard,” said Mr. Steven Tan, President and CEO of Berjaya Auto Philippines. “These cars are all very low mileage, some of which are as low as three kilometers.”

Members of the Miata Club of the Philippines, who snapped up most, if not all of the 25 units allocated for the Philippines, were in full attendance at the turnover ceremony. After the short program pre-delivery inspection (PDI), club members went straight to Nuvali for a short Fun Run in celebration of the MX-5’s milestone.

Designed to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the world’s best-selling two-seater sports car, the Mazda MX-5 Anniversary Edition is an extremely limited model limited to just 1,000 units worldwide. Based off the MX-5 Power Retractable Hardtop (PRHT) model, the MX-5 Anniversary Edition comes in Mazda’s iconic Soul Red Metallic color. Other changes include Brilliant Black A-pillars, windshield surround, side mirrors, rear seatback bars, headlamp bezels, and retracting roof. The 17-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels have been finished in a gunmetal hue to match the new exterior cues. All MX-5 Anniversary Edition models come with a “25th Anniversary badge” with the vehicle’s serial number mounted on the driver’s side fender.

Inside, the MX-5 Anniversary Edition has stainless steel scuff plates with the “25th Anniversary” logo, Piano Black steering wheel spokes, satin-chrome meter rings, and a hand-painted dashboard decoration panel. The seats, floor console lid, shifter boot, parking brake lever, and door armrests also feature red contrast stitching.

“This year, Mazda in the Philippines, together with the Miata Club Philippines, are participating with the rest of the world in celebrating the 25th year of pure driving enjoyment with the MX-5,” said Mr. Tan. “We are very privileged to be allocated 25 units from the very limited global allocation. We can’t imagine a better way to kick off the 25th Year Anniversary celebration together with the Miata Club Philippines.”
