Land Rover Updates Evoque for 2015; Adds 2 New Variants to Line-Up

One of the most successful Land Rover vehicles ever made, the Range Rover Evoque embodies the style, sophistication, and of course, the go-anywhere and do-anything attitude associated with the iconic British marque. Building on that success, LRPhils Motors, Inc., the exclusive distributor of Land Rover vehicles in the Philippines formally announces the availability of the 2015 Evoque—a model that’s been vastly improved and revamped to keep it at the cutting-edge of tech and design.

Outside, the 2015 Evoque’s changes are limited to subtle and minute styling cues headlined by new Land Rover badges on the grille, wheel centers, and tailgate. This is joined by four new alloy wheel designs as well as new exterior color options. Inside, customers can customize the Evoque’s interior with more color combinations along with detail design enhancements to give the cabin an even more luxurious feel.

The biggest change sees a much more efficient and environmentally-friendly Evoque that brings up to 11.4-percent better fuel mileage and 9.5-percent lower carbon dioxide emissions thanks largely to its new 9-speed automatic transmission. This new ZF unit features an ultra-fast response and an adaptive shift program that quickly matches the driver’s driving style. The wider spread of ratios also makes for a more comfortable experience thanks to what Land Rover calls an “imperceptible shift feel”.

In addition to this new automatic transmission unit, the 2015 Evoque gets Active Driveline which is touted as the world’s first ‘on-demand’ four-wheel drive system. This enhances the Evoque’s agility and fuel efficiency by operating in front-wheel drive mode only during steady state driving at speeds above 35 km/h. The new system constantly monitors vehicle dynamics and can automatically re-connect the four-wheel drive system (within 300 milliseconds) when needed. Active Driveline also features Active Torque Biasing with electronic-Diff (e-Diff) technology that distributes torque between the rear wheels to optimize traction and stability.

While this new Active Driveline is available first in petrol variants of the Evoque, standard across the range is Torque Vectoring by Braking. This system enhances agility and safety by re-directing torque between all four wheels to counteract understeer.

The 2015 Evoque also features enhanced convenience features including Park Exit that enables it to automatically exit parallel parking bays; Perpendicular Park that positions the car centrally in parking bays; and Close Vehicle Sensing and Reverse Traffic Detection that warns drivers of oncoming traffic.

LRPhils Motors, Inc. also announces the two new additions to the Evoque line-up: the Autobiography and Autobiography Dynamic. Both of these new variants represent the highest trim levels of the Evoque and join the current range of Pure, Dynamic, and Prestige derivatives. Both of the new trim levels feature various exterior and interior enhancements that set them apart.

In the Evoque Autobiography, 20-inch forged alloy wheels along with other exterior trim component changes such as a new grille, lower front valance, and fog light surrounds. Inside, it comes with premium leather upholstery with ‘Autobiography’ embossed headrests that come in no less than six color palettes. The Autobiography is powered by a 190-horsepower turbo diesel or 240-horsepower petrol engine mated to the new 9-speed automatic transmission.

Meanwhile, the Evoque Autobiography Dynamic takes things to the next level by offering even greater performance and agility. It’s the most performance-focused Evoque ever produced with an upgraded motor and tweaked suspension set-up. The petrol engine in the Autobiography Dynamic sees a 45 horsepower and 60 Nm jump in power (285 horsepower and 400 Nm) thanks to a new single-scroll turbocharger, recalibrated engine management, and exhaust system. Making sure all that power stays on the road, it also comes with revised suspension geometry, firmer spring rates, and recalibrated adaptive dampers that improve turn-in response and on-center precision. And even the brakes have been upgraded with larger, 350-mm front disc brakes.

Cosmetically, the Autobiography Dynamic is set apart by several trim components detailed in Santorini Black. This includes the grille, lower front valance, and fog light surrounds. Even the roof is finished in this high-gloss contrasting color. The body-colored trimmings also visually lower the Autobiography Dynamic while new smoked headlights and clear, crystalline tail lights add to the sporting character. A new color, Phoenix Orange Premium Metallic is exclusive to this model. Inside, it’s differentiated by a dark brushed aluminum trim accent.

“The Range Rover Evoque has proven to be hugely successful and the latest model is destined to have even greater appeal. We are thrilled to be moving the Evoque on to the next stage. It is no doubt, the unbeatable choice for customers seeking the ultimate in compact SUV vehicles," said Marc Soong, Executive Director of LRPhils. Motors Inc.

The 2015 Range Rover Evoque is now available for viewing at the Land Rover Activity Centre at 32nd and 4th Crescent Park West, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
