The All-New 2015 Mitsubishi Strada is Here! (w/ Full Brochure)

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMPC) officially pulled the curtains off the all-new 2015 Strada, a pickup that promises to blend passenger car comfort with SUV amenities, functionality, and ruggedness. The fifth-generation model in Mitsubishi’s storied pickup truck history, the all-new Strada takes the concept of “sport utility truck” to the next level as it aims to become the top choice among pickup buyers in the country.

Since its introduction as the Forte in Japan and L200 in the Philippines, Mitsubishi’s pickup has always been one of the top choices in the segment and is constantly a strong seller among Mitsubishi Motors Corporation’s global line-up. In the Philippines, it has cumulatively sold more than 56,000 units since the 1990s making it the best-selling pickup nameplate in the country.

The all-new, fifth-generation Strada evokes a dynamic and sophisticated stance with its taut lines and compact proportions. The highly evocative style gives it class-leading aerodynamics contributing to better fuel efficiency and high-speed quietness. Careful consideration has been done to improve visibility with thinner A-pillars and a large greenhouse. The front bumper is even designed to channel water spray in an outward manner rather than toward the windshield for better safety in wet weather conditions. The impressive headlamps house LED daytime running lights with HID projector beams for the GLS 4x4 M/T and GLS Sport 4x4 A/T variants.

At the side, the distinctive “J-line” provides a clever engineering solution that shortens the wheelbase and maximizes interior space without compromising loading capabilities. In fact, despite the Strada’s larger and deeper bed, it has a class-leading 5.9-meter turning radius.

It features a stylishly sporty two-tone black/gray interior with piano black and silver accent trims scattered throughout. The instrument cluster features a neat and straight-forward display with a large multi-information display sandwiched by the large tachometer and speedometer. Dead center is a 6.75-inch touchscreen multimedia system filled with various functions from GPS navigation to reverse camera display to a tire pressure monitoring system. The Strada also boasts of the longest cabin in its class at 1,745 millimeters with the most comfortable rear seatback angle.

The Strada is offered in six variants. In 2WD: GL 4x2 base M/T, GLX 4x2 M/T, GLX V 4x2 A/T; in 4WD: GL 4x4 base M/T, GLS V 4x4 M/T, and GLS Sport V 4x4 A/T. At the heart of the all-new Strada is an improved version of Mitsubishi’s Di-D engine. For the lower variants, they produce 136 horsepower at 4,000 rpm and 324 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. For the higher variants, the 4D56 engine produces a maximum output of 178 horsepower at 4,000 rpm and 400 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm thanks to a variable geometry turbo (VGT). Available transmission options are: five-speed manual and a five-speed automatic.

Mitsubishi isn’t hiding the fact that the Strada isn’t the most powerful in outright power. Yet, it features the best power-to-weight ratio. With a curb weight of just 1,835 kilograms for the GLS Sport V A/T model, it’s easily lighter than its larger, more powerful competition. Yet, it can accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 10.3 seconds compared to its competitor which does 10.8 seconds even if it has a 200-horsepower inline-5 under the hood.

The range-topping GLS Sport V features Mitsubishi’s renowned Super Select 4WD-II system. Also seen in the likes of the Pajero, this technology provides outstanding off-road performance and superior handling with just the turn of a knob on the center console. This system also controls torque distribution between the front and rear wheels up to 40 percent front and 60 percent rear. In addition, it allows the Strada to run on full-time 4WD unlike its competitors which are purely 2WD with shift-on-the-fly systems.

With the pickup truck’s increasingly multifunction role as family transport, lifestyle vehicle, and business companion, the Strada doesn’t take a backseat in terms of safety. It uses the Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) body, dual SRS airbags, seat belt with pre-tensioners, and anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist.

The all-new Strada is now available at all Mitsubishi dealerships nationwide in the following color choices: Quartz Brown Metallic, Impulse Blue Metallic, Earth Green Metallic, Rosita Red, Virgil Gray, Sterling Silver Metallic, Polar White, Savanna White, and Pyrenese Black. Prices range from P 950,000 for the base GL 4x2 M/T to P 1,440,000 for the GLS Sport V 4x4 A/T.

The Philippines is only the second market in the world to receive the all-new Strada, following its debut in Thailand late last year. It will be exported to over 150 countries worldwide and is manufactured solely at Mitsubishi Motors Thailand.

    4. Hi A di lahat 4WD pareho iba ung sa Mitsubishi SUPER SELECT may center lock research nyo ..

      Delete
    5. Hindi parehas. The Super Select is different. The 4H works like an AWD - pwede sa asphalt on winding roads. The 4HLc is similar to the 4H on other pick-up brands and the 4LLc is similar to the 4L. The high-end Strada is the only pick up in the Philippines whose front and rear wheels can work full-time on a 40-60 torque split.

  2. Best pickup for the money. The GLX V 2wd has VGT, GPS, BACKING UP CAMERA, Tire Pressure monitor, etc. as part of the deal. And bedliner too. And the All in promo is just great, including the 55,000 pesos in prebooking discount. Can't ask for more. I am replacing my old ( 17 years) workhorse of a 4wd Strada with the above mentioned model.

  5. Pangit? Nasa preference ng tao yan. Sa akin Navarra pangit nawala pagka brusko. Itong Strada bang for the money. I saw and test drove one. Panalo ang comfort. Panalo ang interior. Sulit ang ibabayad ng bibili. Urban pickup at its best at hindi ka din mabibitin sa tingin ko for occasional offroad use.

  8. I had written earlier that the Strada was the best pickup for the money. That was after I was told by a sales agent that if I ordered the GLX V 2wd for something like 1,189,000 pesos less 55000 for prebooking discount, free one year insurance, three years LTO riegistration and chattel mortgage, I would also get the bedliner for free, as well as GPS, rear camera, tire monitor as part of the deal. Now it turns out that GPS was not part of the package, and there is doubt that the bedliner would be free. Mitsubishi had better put its act together, or there might be some disappointment somewhere.

Lastly, Mitsubishi Strada is tested na may strongest brakes. At lastly, dito lang yan parang sikat ang navara sa Ph. Powerful eh. Pero sa ibang bansa Triton mas respected ang Triton/Strada. Andun na ang lahat eh. In short, balance of prowess, power, driving dynamics at innovation ng Mitsubishi. I'm sharing this because one of my father's business is into automotive sa ibang bansa so alam na alam niya kung ano ang brand na maganda ng isa sasakyan.

    1. All types of car has an aerodynamic design, it has been modified eversince after the first German car was made. I agree pick-up trucks are a workhorse indeed, but all these companies kept on telling on their engineering was made differently to others or should they say theirs are better than the others, but apparently if you should look closely to it they're just all damn the same. It was just an another way on how they market their car, it's up to us on what to choose.

  15. What is wrong with the Philippines? The first world countries still got the newest diesel engine. Their Navara got the latest nissan 2.3, their L200 also got mitsubishi's newest 2.4 mivec diesel. Turbo lag is non existent on those new engine, refinement and quietness par with gasoline engine. What if when the euro fuels of the Big Three arrives next year, aren't we still getting the best diesel engine around?

    2. IMHO Nothings wrong with the 4D56.
Design is really old and dates back to the 80´s.
But because of the really good design
      (Have 16 year old L200 with 4D56)
      and the constant refinements -
turbo, high pressure injection, VGT, Euro 4-5-6 etc.
it´s a really good engine (also to be found in adventure)
Some people like the newest - I prefer proven.
Basically all japanese trucks are good.
Maybe you like one model more because of the looks.
Maybe you feel more comfortable in one particular (test drive ! )
And maybe you prefer one brand because the dealer
has a good maintenance crew ...
      Hope I could help

  22. For me it is a Best bang for your buck pickup truck.... You will get more on a Strada GLX V A/T 4x2 in Terms of power and Features compared to other vehicles in its class with a price bracket of P1.1-1.3m .. For Just P1.158m you'll get a Powerful engine, a spacious interior, well balanced vehicle in terms of performance and handling. Not to mention some extra features and accessories (GPS, Cruise Control, TPMS, Backup Cam, A/T with sportmode +- ETC.) that you can also get on other brands But on a higher trim level and a higher Price Aswell. But nowadays you cant go wrong whatever Pickup truck you choose its all about the buyers preference. What they need, what they wanted it for and how much they are willing to spend for a Pickup...

Mas safe at stable.

Kumbaga sa 5 years twice palang.

We own a 2010 strada glx and it really delivers well no complaints at all, not to mention na abot kaya ang maintenance unlike sa XLT(ford) mahal ang maintenance ng ford as we all know. so practicality wise, go for strada! Another between GLS V 2015 at GLS v 2016 ano ba talga pinagkaiba at mas malaki kasi discount pag 2015 model kesa 2016 model. practical wise iniisip ko ang 2015 at mas mababa ang loan amount pero kung mas madaming upgrade sa 2016 di sa 2016 nalang at least built in na at na QC sa planta.
