MIAS 2015: Tata Goes Business-Minded

Pilipinas Taj Autogroup, Inc., the official distributor of Tata automobiles and commercial vehicles in the Philippines just revealed their showcase line-up for the upcoming Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) slated from April 9 to 12 at the World Trade Center. This year, Tata is focusing on business-minded applications.

Front and center is a preview of their heavy-commercial vehicle line-up led by the Prima range of trucks. Tata calls the Prima a “World Smart Truck” because it uses an Italian cab design, engine technology from the US and Europe, gearbox from Germany, chassis frame from Mexico, sheet metal dies from Japan, and a Swedish robotic weld line.

The Prima may sound like a chopped-up vehicle, but it has proven its worth at the T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship, a one-make race at the Buddh International Circuit in India. It’s a testament to the Prima’s high level of performance and competitiveness.

The Prima is joined by the Tata Ace and Super Ace which will be shown in different body configurations and styles. It’s the perfect vehicle for the budding entrepreneur with body styles including the Tata Ace Hopper Tipper—a unique application that can transport and dump debris, the Tata Ace Eutectic Reefer—a closed van refrigerated transporter, and finally the Tata Super Ace Reefer Van—essentially a larger version of the Tata Ace Reefer.

Finally, for the passenger car line-up, Tata is showing off their diesel line-up including a Tata Indigo in a taxi configuration. The spacious Indigo offers a 1.4-liter turbo diesel engine for optimized performance as well as an independent suspension for a smoother ride.
