UPDATED: Nissan Philippines to Launch NV350 Urvan in June

UPDATE 1: The Philippine-spec Nissan NV350 Urvan is here. Check it out! (6/15)

After retiring the long-serving Frontier pickup truck with the launch of the all-new NP300 Navara, it seems Nissan Philippines, Inc. (NPI) is doing the same with its Urvan. According to a report by The Philippine STAR, NPI will be bringing in the NV350 Urvan in June in a move to drive its sales higher.

The NV350 Urvan will replace the long-serving Urvan which sells at the tune of 30,000 units annually. And instead of producing it locally, NPI will be importing the NV350 Urvan from Japan, according to a press briefing conducted by Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. executive vice-president Takao Katagiri.

This move will bring the utilization of NPI’s Philippine production capacity to less than 10 percent of its 30,000 units. A strong indicator perhaps of the company’s move to pull out of local assembly unless the industry road map is approved.

Launched for the Japanese market in 2012, the NV350 Urvan (or Caravan as it’s known in Japan) makes use of Nissan’s YD25DDTi engine. This comes mated to a 5-speed automatic. It’s also available with a 2.0- or 2.5-liter gasoline engine. Outside, it features LED parking lamps and available HID headlamps. It also features technology such as push engine start/stop, a foot-operated parking brake, and multi-information display.

The photos shown here are the Japanese-specification NV350 Caravan.

  1. Sa wakas may competition na rin ang Super Grandia na japanese brand. Kelan kaya ang Mitsubishi?

    1. I doubt that there would be any updates. Lancer nga ayaw baguhin.

    2. Mitsubishi and Isuzu rebadged the NV350 as the Fuso Canter Van and Como. The 3 vans use the same engine from Nissan.

  6. Foton China lahat may gawa niyan. Pati na ang Toyota grandia. Rebadged rebadged lang ng ibang car assembler. Just wondering nga lang why a cheap diesel is three times overpriced, in some parts of Asia, outside China, when its build is but a joke.

    1. Wrong! Ayon sa report ang i-import nila na new nissan urvan nv350 ay galing mismo sa japan at sa japan mismo ginawa. Hindi naman lahat galing sa china kahit rebadge
