Toyota Motor Philippines Offers Smart Advantage with 2015 New Avanza (w/ Brochure)

The best-selling compact MPV in the country has received a fresh update for 2015 to keep it in touch with its recently launched competitors. Since its introduction to the Philippine market in 2006, the Avanza has already sold more than 50,000 units. And now, with this new revamp, Toyota Motor Philippines is confident that it’ll remain the preferred choice in its segment.

All in all, the 2015 Avanza sports a new engine that offers more power, improved fuel efficiency, and enhanced levels of NVH for a much more comfortable driving experience. The new Avanza remains available with two engine variants: 1.3-liter and 1.5-liter. The 1.3-liter K3-VE engine produces 90 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 117 Nm of torque at 4,400 rpm while the 1.5-liter 3SZ-FE outs 102 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 136 Nm of torque at 4,400 rpm. Both of these engines are mated to either 5-speed manuals or 4-speed automatics.

Outside, it gets a refreshed front fascia with an expressive new grille, re-shaped headlights, and new designs for its alloy wheels (15-inches for the 1.5 and 14-inches for the 1.3). The rear doesn’t change as much and is limited to tweaked brake lamp clusters.

Inside is where the Avanza gets its biggest difference. For one, it feels more sophisticated with its new dark brown scheme (at least for the 1.5). Next, the instrument cluster has been updated with new graphics including a helpful eco indicator that guides the driver to maximize fuel efficiency. Furthermore, the infotainment system is now GPS navigation ready with inputs done through a 2-DIN audio system (except for 1.3J). Finally, it offers better flexibility with the addition of a 50/50 split-tumble third row.

Aside from these cosmetic and creature feature enhancements, the Avanza also gets reinforcements when it comes to safety. Dual SRS airbags are now standard across the line-up as are ISOFIX child seat anchors. The 1.5-liter model gets the added security of anti-lock brakes with EBD.

The 2015 Toyota Avanza is offered with a refreshed color line-up, the availability of which depends on the exact variant: Nebula Blue Metallic, Black Metallic, Grey Metallic, Silver Mica Metallic, Beige Metallic, and White.

Prices of the Avanza are as follows:
  • 1.3J M/T: P 667,000
  • 1.3E M/T: P 756,000
  • 1.3E A/T: P 797,000
  • 1.5G M/T: P 869,000
  • 1.5G A/T:  P 910,000

  1. Are you sure the brochure posted is right especially the engine? I thought they are now equipped with Dual VVTi engines?

    1. I figured that the brochure is the correct one. The official PR they gave said Dual VVT-i which I'm not sure of. Hence why I removed in the story. The brochure doesn't even indicate Dual VVT-i.

    4. based on some pics in FB from some local Toyota dealers, it's Dual VVT-i

The brochure though came straight from Toyota as well.

  4. If fuel consumption is improved from current 7km/ to 8 or 9km/l, I'm getting this instead of the Ecosport. Additional 2 seats and a bigger boot is very useful for close to the same price. Looks-wise, they're not that far off anymore.

  9. ^The front-end and overall looks get interesting this time... as for the fuel consumption, the power to weight ratio will surely give this a low rating no matter how rosy the manufacturer would present it...

  15. I think Toyota Philippines need to clarified regarding the engine model of the new Avanza. The press release of toyota and even there sales people claimed that the New Avanza will have a new Toyota engine. K3 VE is a daihatsu made engine which used on 2012-2015 Avanza.

    2. Hi Anonymous,

Hmmm... How do you post photos here? But to answer your question, standard wheels are 14, no 15 option. Been driving my unit for a month now. And basics are complete, including power windows.

Added info: Fuel consumption is about 8.5km/L, mostly city-driven--meaning, dealing with Ortigas/C5 traffic--and loaded with high-octane fuel.

      Cheers! -Avanza Girl

  27. my brother has just bought a Toyota Avanza E Model last April 2016 and they now observe that it has a problem when it comes to its aircon unit.

  28. Hello,

alin ang mas fuel efficient, Avanza 1.5 AT or MT? by how much in percentage? planning to get AT kaya lang sabi ng sales person mag MT na lang daw kasi tipid ka by 50% gas consumption. Is this correct? matraffic kasi sa Manila,Ayala at Edsa pag rush hour kaya AT ang plan ko. pero if mas mahal ang gastos sa gasoline MT nalang.

    Thanks in advance

    2. Hi. I have the same model as yours. I thought 10KM/l (this is my personal gauge been recording it for a month now) is too much na, but 6km/l????!!! I mean this is just too much.

Siguro its the way you drive? Ako, I don't floor it too much - sundot sundot lang sa gas and I always see to it na dapat nandun yung ECO sign. Try mo, wag mo i-stay ng matagal paa mo sa gas kasi automatic mag rrev si engine mo. Hope this helps.

Only problem aside from this is nabibitinan ako sa power mabagal sya umarangkada so I have to put it to "3" then eventually back to "D".
