Honda Cars Philippines Officially Launches All-New 2016 Pilot (w/ Specs)

Just a year after its launch in the North American market, Honda Cars Philippines welcomes the arrival of its first-class SUV: the Pilot back to the Philippines. After some teasing, it arrives and befitting its name, the 8-seater Pilot returns packed with more horses under the hood, more convenience features, more tech, and a substantially raised price tag as well.

Designed and developed in America by Honda R&D Americas, Inc., the 2016 Pilot is a commanding premium SUV that features LED projector-type headlights with signature DRLs as well as LED tail lights. 18-inch alloy wheels complete the Pilot’s modern and sophisticated look.

Inside, it has a contemporary cabin that starts out with the convenience of the keyless Smart Entry system. For this year, it has added functionalities such as Remote Control Engine Start and Power Tailgate Operation. After that, the occupants will revel in the soft-touch plastics, posh black leather, and available ambient lighting. It also features a triple-zone automatic climate control with rear controls, rear door shades, and a one-touch second row walk-in seat feature where with just one touch, the second row seat slides and tilt allowing easier access to the third row.

Entertainment is provided by an 8-inch touchscreen audio system powered by a new Android-based operating system with a fast processor. This means the Pilot can take on all kinds of interfaces including Bluetooth, HDMI, and USB connectivity. The sound is routed through a 7-speaker system. For the rear passengers, the Pilot has a 9-inch entertainment system with both DVD and HDMI inputs.

Uncompromising comfort is provided by the 10-way powered seats for the driver and 4-way for the front passenger. Aside from its 8-seater capacity, the all-new Pilot bumps up its overall length by three inches to provide even more cargo flexibility without compromising the third row seats. What’s more, a Flexible Cargo Management System features a two-position cargo lid that permits items to be stored in a lower compartment, adjustable to provide higher cargo space.

Providing power is Honda’s 3.5-liter Direct-Injection i-VTEC V6 engine. Equipped with Earth Dreams Technology and Variable Cylinder Management, it outs 284 horsepower through all four wheels courtesy of the Intelligent Variable Torque Management or i-VTM4. The i-VTM4 also incorporates a new torque vectoring function for enhanced cornering while providing all-weather performance. The Pilot also comes with Intelligent Traction Management that offers four preset all-wheel driving modes.

Designed to be a leader in safety, the 2016 Pilot comes with adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation braking, lane keeping assist, road departure warning, forward collision warning, and lane departure warning. This is apart from the usual suite of six airbags, antilock brakes with brake assist, hill start assist, vehicle stability assist, blind spot information system, cross traffic monitor, and a tire pressure monitoring system.

The all-new 2016 Honda Pilot retails for P 3,380,000 and is available in four colors: Crystal Black Pearl, Modern Steel Metallic, Dark Cherry Pearl (by order), and White Diamond Pearl (additional P 20,000).

For those interested to see the all-new Pilot, it will be on display along with other Honda vehicles at the Shangri-La Plaza Mall, Level 1 from February 24 to 28, 2016.

  4. :O! The Ford Explorer 3.5L Sport V6 EcoBoost AWD suddenly became very reasonably priced at P2.8 Million, considering its superior power at 370PS and 475Nm of torque.

  8. Nice SUV... but very expensive. The Fortuner, Montero & Everest is way better & will have new buyers than Pilot!

    1. Wrong answer. Pilot is targeting to Prado, Durango, Explorer and Pajero in the Philippine. So the buyers those who are considering the Futuner Montero and Everest, will not consider to buy this.

    2. In Australia the Everest had comparison test with the toyota prado and our new generations of Pick-up based suv's are more smarter and safer and have global market appeal also safer to reach the standards not just for asia but for the international market

    3. Pick up based SUVs are great maybe for the Australian outback or some genuine off road use. But on the road, their ride and handling is awful compared to unibody SUVs. Why do you this pick up cased SUVs are only sold in the third world?

Anyway, this Pilot is way overpriced compared to the Explorer or the Santa Fe, which are its main competitors as soft road SUVs.

    4. Well in Australia the Prado and the Explorer are best selling their. The Everest and the Fortuner not but the 3rd generation of the Everest and 2nd generation was launched this year

    5. Yea saw that review as well. But i wouldn't exactly agree. I own both models.. annnd.. yes, Everest walks the talk, the technology more than compensates and maybe makes it on par with the prado-ish. But it still feels superficial doesnt give you that oomp feeling when you drive a prado or LC, the invincible feeling. If we compare it to watches it feels like owning a mid priced or high value seiko vs an entry level rolex.

  9. Pick up based SUVs are no match to this pilot in terms of riding comfort. If you are an executive who needs to travel to Bulacan or Laguna from MM every weekend, this will be your car of choice. But... still too pricey for a japanese car.

  10. WTF!!!! 3.3+M? Why so expensive? Without out so much difference with the other SUV brand. I'd rather choice choice toyota prado 2.7M with spectacular features and design or montero sport which is more cheaper and having cozy looks.
