Located in the City of Yokohama, the Nissan Global Headquarters Gallery is a must-do and must-see for Nissan fanatics. It showcases the brand’s current line-up as well as a rotating set of classic models and racing cars from the Zama Heritage Collection. It also serves as the lobby of the global corporate headquarters.
For those who aren’t too adventurous, the Nissan Global Headquarters Gallery is also one of the easiest to go to. It’s a train ride around an hour and twenty minutes from Tokyo Station. Upon reaching Yokohama Station, there are clearly marked signs that lead you to the sprawling glass building.
The Gallery is divided into zones:
The Corporate Communication Zone explains what Nissan is all about—its corporate vision, mission, and activities. It highlights the brand’s commitment to a sustainable future as seen by the Blue Citizenship Wall and its thrust to innovation and technologies.
The most exciting part is the Domestic Product Zone where JDM or Japanese Domestic Model cars are displayed including classic models and racing cars. Next to it is the Global Product Zone where Nissan’s global models are featured including those from the Infiniti brand. Sometimes, a concept car or two will make an appearance there as well.
Behind the cars, the Heritage Corridor shows Nissan’s impressive legacy since the company started in 1933. Apart from classic model displays, it also has interactive videos and photos. This narrow corner houses scale models of familiar nameplates such as Datsun and Prince.
If you’re looking for a short respite, the Gallery CafĂ© is a perfect way to take a breather. You can have a short coffee break courtesy of Starbucks Coffee overlooking Yokohama Bay.
Finally, what’s a trip to the Nissan Global Headquarters without a souvenir? Shopping is important for every fan and the Nissan Boutique sells a variety of Nissan and NISMO branded range of merchandise from t-shirts to jackets to scale models and even more obscure items like towels and flags.
The Nissan Global Headquarters Gallery can be accessed from Shin-Takashima Station on the Minatomirai line (five-minute walk) or Yokohama Station (seven-minute walk), which is linked via the “Hama Mirai Walk” with the “Nissan Walk” cutting through the HQ building (a tall glass building) towards Minatomirai.
Also nearby, around 2 stations away from Yokohama station (+ ~1.4 Km walk) is the Nissan Engine Museum. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Engine_Museum
