Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Updates Pajero Engine

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines’ long servicing flagship SUV, the Pajero, gets a new heart for 2016 that boasts more power, better refinement, and of course, Euro 4 emissions compliance.

Now available at all Mitsubishi dealerships nationwide, the 2016 Pajero gets an upgraded 4M41 engine with a new variable geometry turbo system. This brings the 3.2-liter 4-cylinder’s output to 192 horsepower at 3,800 rpm (up from 165 horsepower) and 441 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm (up from 373 Nm). Apart from just pure power, the upgraded 4M41 engine meets Euro 4 emissions regulations while also benefiting from improved cooling performance and stronger internal components.

This new engine boasts the Pajero’s comfort and refinement levels. Outside, it gets LED daytime running lights, HID headlights with auto dimming, and a power tilt/sliding sunroof. Inside, it boasts of full leather seats (Claysoil Beige or Black depending on the exterior color) and a 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat.

Giving the Pajero surefootedness on any terrain, it has the proven Super Select 4WD-II system as standard equipment as well as M-ASTC or the Mitsubishi Active Stability and Traction Control system which applies braking force to the free-spinning wheels, redistributing power to the wheels with traction, curbing over- and understeer.

The 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero retails for P 2,750,000 for the diesel variant. A gasoline variant, powered by a 3.8-liter V6 retails for P 2,550,000.

  4. If I had the choice between the prado, explorer or pajero, I'd pick the pajero with the diesel engine.

  7. Sir Uly, would you care to mind in making a review of one of these as well (the VGT variant)? Thanks in advance.

I want to know the difference in power compared to the non-VGT variant.

Earlier this year, we just bought the 2016 model with the same looks but older diesel engine. Now, I'm very disappointed that throughout these years, it is only this time that Mitsubishi decided to bring it's updated oilburner.

For something that expensive (2.7m), I expected this model to have more power than before but during the time it was bought, my parents did not wait anymore so they just bought it.

However, I blame all of this to MMPC because they never even made any public announcements or at least some hints that they will bring the updated oilburner here this year.

Now, if we sell our unit in the future, it will have a crappy resale value because of this. What a scam.

PS sorry for sourgraping here. It was just a big disappointment for me. That's all.
