New 2016 Subaru XV Crosstrek is the Best Value Limited Edition Model

Motor Image Pilipinas is giving you more reasons to “un-park your life” with the launch of a new limited edition Subaru XV. Called the Subaru XV Crosstrek, it features enhanced exterior styling that ties nicely with the compact crossover’s do-anything, go-anywhere attitude.

Taking on a name that’s reminiscent of its North American cousin (the Subaru XV is known formally there as the Subaru XV Crosstrek), the 2016 Subaru XV Crosstrek from Motor Image Pilipinas is set apart from its stable mates thanks to its two-tone, black/silver wrap around body kit.

Upfront, the new under spoiler enhances the angular set bumper, creating a bolder appearance than stock. Ditto at the back, where the under spoiler there highlights the contours of the reflectors and rear fog light. The ends are joined together by side under spoilers that visually plants the stance without affecting the generous 220-millimeter ground clearance. The enhancements are completed by the high-gloss black roof spoiler and “XV Crosstrek” trunk emblem.

Apart from these aesthetic enhancements, the Subaru XV Crosstrek remains the same as the 2.0i it’s based from. It comes with features such as Smart Entry push-button start/stop, leather seats, automatic climate control, a touchscreen audio system with USB, Bluetooth, voice recognition, and Siri Eyes Free, and a rear parking camera.

Mechanically, it’s the same as other Subaru XV models as well. Power comes from a 2.0-liter horizontally-opposed 4-cylinder engine with 150 horsepower and 196 Nm of torque mated a Lineartronic CVT transmission with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. Naturally, the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system is standard.

Known for its robust safety, the Subaru XV Crosstrek, like other Subaru XV models, come with a complete line of safety features such as 7 airbags, Anti-lock Brakes (ABS) with Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), stability and traction control (VDC), and ISOFIX child seat anchors.

Adding to the desirability of the Subaru XV Crosstrek, the run is just limited to 50 units and get this, it’s only available as a complete package—meaning you can’t get the parts piecemeal.

Finally, saving the best info for last, the Crosstrek appearance package costs you absolutely nothing. It’s absolutely free. That’s right, you don’t have to pay a single peso above the 2.0i’s P 1,318,000 price tag. This easily makes the 2016 Subaru XV Crosstrek one heck of a value.

  1. This is a bit confusing. The 1.318m model does not have leather doesn't it? Or is this the premium model?

  2. Subaru XV or Mazda CX-3, both top variants. Explain why?

    1. CX-3.
      Why? SIX-SPEED A/T.

The XV would've been the better pick because of its AWD system but, weelll, the CX-3 has it too! So what's left of the XV then? It's lethargic CVT, no less.

    2. I agree, I heard the sound that a CVT equipped Civic produces, and I heard nothing but a boring long sound with no gear change, and the sound is also terrible. Whereas I heard a Mazda CX-3 in sport mode revving music in my ears. And Subaru's maintenance is also expensive, where in the Mazda CX-3, it's free.

    3. The CX-3 is a smaller vehicle since it's based on the Mazda2, while the XV is basically a raised Impreza hatchback. Also ground clearance on the CX-3 is almost the same as the Mazda3's .

    5. CX-3 is basically a blinged out Mazda2 hatch with just as little space. XV has more usuable space inside while the CX-3 is really tight.

  4. They usually give discounts to their units, meaning if this CROSSTREK doesn't come with a discount, obviously you're also going to pay for it.

  5. The Forester is a better option compared to the XV. Its truly a crossover and has been getting good reviews. I don't even know what category this XV belongs to.

    1. Sub-Compact Crossover ito (Same with Chevy Trax, Mazda CX-3, Honda HR-V, Mitsu ASX). Ang kagandahan lang, it's based on a C-segment car, not a B-Segment.

    2. But you can only buy the base variant of the forester, whereas you can already buy the top variants of the CX-3 and the XV. The XV belongs to the subcompact crossovers. But the xv looks somewhat like a raised wagon.
