Nissan Produces 150 Millionth Vehicle

Nissan just reached a new milestone with 150 million vehicles produced globally. Marking the milestone with a simple ceremony, the 150 millionth vehicle is, fittingly, the all-new Leaf, the icon of Nissan’s Intelligent Mobility philosophy.

It took 73 years for Nissan to produce its first 100 millionth vehicle after the company was founded in 1933, but just another 11 years to produce the next 50 million.

When Nissan reached the 100 million vehicle milestone in 2006, 76.5 percent of the total vehicles had been produced in Japan. However, because of Nissan’s efforts, localization has been greatly accelerated in the past 11 years during which 76.5 percent of the 50 million Nissan vehicles were made outside Japan (the USA and China, in particular).

Nissan Vehicle Production by Country
  • Japan – 58.9 percent
  • China – 7.9 percent
  • USA – 10.8 percent
  • Mexico – 7.9 percent
  • United Kingdom – 6.2 percent
  • Spain – 2.4 percent
  • Others – 5.8 percent
