This Could Be Our First Glimpse of the 2020 Subaru WRX STI

After Mitsubishi Motors previewed a high-performance electric crossover concept in the e-Evolution Concept, Subaru Corporation is the next automaker to preview their display at the upcoming 45th Tokyo Motor Show. With the aim of telling a “New Subaru Story – from a company making things, to a company making people smile”, a future high-performance car, the Viziv Performance Concept is taking centerstage.

Purely a design concept at this point, the Viziv Performance Concept is a glimpse of what the future WRX STI could look like. Receiving Subaru’s “Dynamic x Solid” design, it has bulbous fenders and an aggressive fascia. It also retains Subaru’s iconic top-mounted hood scoop and large rear wing. The best news of all though is that it’s managed to shake off the tread towards high-performance crossover since the Viziv Performance Concept is confirmed to be a sports sedan.

No powertrain details for the Viziv Performance Concept has been announced, but it is safe to assume that the production model will be the newest model to migrate to the Subaru Global Platform. Nonetheless, Subaru has said that it will offer advanced driver-assist features with EyeSight at its core. It’s also deemed to be future-proof since its designed in anticipation of a world filled with autonomous and self-driving vehicles. Subaru is expected to unveil an all-new version of its high-performance WRX and WRX STI in 2019 as a 2020 model.

CarGuide.PH will be at the 45th Tokyo Motor Show to bring you news straight from the Tokyo Big Sight starting October 25.

  1. Im a big Subaru fanboy but im not expecting that concept design to be as near as the production model. Admittedly, Subaru has to improve in the PRODUCTION design department.

    1. Yeah just like last time. They showed an awesome concept car, but then we got a watered down version. Guys, don't keep your hopes high.
