UPDATED: Isuzu Philippines Introduces Limited-Edition mu-X and D-MAX (w/ 16 Photos, Specs)

UPDATE: Prices for the D-MAX X-Series and mu-X Luxe have been revealed (2/27).

Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) introduced two limited-edition variants of its best-selling D-MAX pickup truck and mu-X mid-sized SUV hoping to broaden the reach of the country’s best-selling commercial brand.

“Keeping our line-up fresh is the key to the very demanding market, especially for the pick-up and SUV segment. To keep up with the competition, we are offering two new variants which are designed to exude the more aggressive and luxurious side of the D-MAX and mu-X models,” said IPC President Hajime Koso.

Introduced is the latest D-MAX X-Series which aims to tap a younger, more urban-oriented market segment; while the mu-X Luxe, as its name suggests, becomes the most well-appointed mu-X variant to date, aiming for those who want the ruggedness and durability of an SUV with the luxury features common in the executive sedan class.

The 2018 edition of the D-MAX X-Series sports a black radiator grille, front and rear skirts, roof rails, and 18-inch alloy wheels. A rear cargo spoiler also aids in improving the overall aerodynamics while sleeking up the D-MAX’s rugged silhouette. It’s also made a touch more menacing thanks to red accents on the Isuzu logo, front fog lamp garnish, and alloy wheel lip. The D-MAX X-Series is exclusively available in two colors: Freestyle White and Black Hawk.

Greeting its occupants, the D-MAX X-Series has red illuminated rocker plates, matching the red Isuzu logo on the steering wheel and leather seats stitched with the words, “X-Series.” Adding even more convenience, the D-MAX X-Series adds additional USB ports for mobile device charging.

Meanwhile, the mu-X sees the addition of the new mu-X Luxe. It stands out thanks to its special Red Spinel exterior color complimented by light gray overfenders.

Inside, it features a blue illuminated scuff plate and a 3D surround sound system that compliment the mu-X’s high-quality quilt-stitch design leather seats. A new power tailgate system provides for hassle-free cargo loading. Fitted with an obstruction detection system and a programmable height adjustment, it can be safely used by anyone in the family.

Both the D-MAX X-Series and mu-X Luxe series are mechanically unchanged. This means they are both powered by Isuzu’s Euro 4 compliant 4JJ1-TCX 3.0-liter Blue Power Diesel engine. Producing 177 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque, the D-MAX X-Series comes in both manual and automatic flavors, while the mu-X Luxe is solely equipped with an automatic. Both of these limited-edition models run with a 4x2 drivetrain.

    1. They keep using the word "limited edition". I don't think anyone in Isuzu even know what it means.

  6. 1.8 million price and the shifter knob feels like you are touching a very cheap auto.

  7. Wake up Isuzu! You're competitors are the Navara Sport and Ranger FX4 both around 1.2m and the Hilux Conquest priced at 1.3m. Is the Dmax that good to justify pricing above the top sellers? Not in your dreams
