Volkswagen Jetta Still at Pre-TRAIN Prices (But Not for Long)

Volkswagen Philippines is keeping the price of its best-selling sedan, the Jetta at pre-TRAIN prices (but not for long). The carmaker announced that they are keeping the suggested retail prices steady until April 30, 2018.

In effect, the Jetta Comfortline is still at P 1,100,000 while the Jetta Highline is at P 1,200,000.

The Jetta has been Volkswagen Philippines' bestselling sedan since its introduction, reflecting Jetta’s worldwide sales performance of over 14 million sold in its six generations of production, making it among the most successful vehicles sold in the German carmaker’s history.

It was also instrumental in the sales growth of Volkswagen Philippines in 2017, in which the distributor sold a total of 1,363 units from January to December 2017, compared to 1,060 units during the same period in 2016, translating to a 29 percent increase.

Made for everyday living, the Jetta is the only diesel model in its segment powered by a 2.0-liter TDI diesel engine making 150 horsepower and 340 Nm of torque.

Standard for both Comfortline and Highline variants are: 6-speed DSG gearbox, sunroof, Keyless-Go with Push Start and the 5.8-inch Touchscreen Color Display Audio.

For the Highline variant, additional amenities, safety, and comfort features include the Fender 8-speaker sound system, dual zone Climatronic air-conditioning, rain-sensing wipers, 6-way power driver seat with lumbar adjust and 17-inch alloy wheels.

  1. Nah, it still is a pile of crap. Dieselgate scandal, notoriously unreliable, parts are hard to find, jerky and generally faulty DCT, looks boring, etc.

    2. You're obviously commenting based on what you've red. Have you owned one, or even perhaps driven one?

    3. Guys, let me ask you a question. Do you need to eat shit in order to know that it tastes bad? Yeah, I don't think so.

    4. Typical compact sedan city fuel consumption is 6-8kml while jetta diesel is 10-12kml. nuffsaid

    5. So thats admitting you haven't driven one... Your probably better off just driving your eon or celerio.

    6. Looks boring? Then get the ricey Civic. The Jetta has an understated classy and elegant design, which is good.

    7. Civic para lng sa mga baduy na ricers. Napakaingay pa ng mga tambutso maski 10kmh sa parking lot pagdating daan ang bagal nman kasi lowered takot magasgas underbody

    8. No one even answered my question. I doubt any of you even own a VW, let alone this model. Hypocrites.

No, I don't own one because I'm smart enough to avoid it. May common sense kumbaga. Officemate has VW Golf, DCT/DSG failure, sobra 50k gasto. Our lawyer owns an Audi A4, has carbon build up issues. Audi by the way is also owned by VW.

    9. I think you are an owner of a Civic RS you got last January 2017. The interior of your Civic looks cheap and if you race with a VW Jetta climbing up the hills in Baguio, your Civic can hardly keep up.

    11. Where is the anonymous guy with the RS Turbo that praises the Civic's CVT? lol A manual, traditional 6 speed auto, or a DCT with real gears are better than any rubbery CVT.

    12. You don't know what the hell you're talking about.

Yes you are correct that manual and conventional auto are both better than CVT in terms of driving feel. But to say DCT is better than CVT? No way. DCTs are jerky in traffic, prone to overheating, and extremely unreliable. You might say DCTs are used in sportscar, but you have to remember, these cars are not supposed to be used for daily driving and for comfort.

Rubbery CVT? Yeah there are some rubbery CVTs in the past but MOST of the CVTs today behave like traditional auto. They emulate real gears plus they are paired with a torque converter. Honda's CVT for example, you can barely tell its a CVT unless you drive it really really hard.

    13. Honda fanboys bago kayo manglait sa DCT tingnan mo muna yung CVT. Meron recall ang CVT transmission ng Honda at madami na ding bagong Jazz at Civic nasira kaagad CVT within 3-5 years.

    14. Let me answer your issues one by one. All face-lifted 2015 Jetta 2.0L TDI models and above with the EA-288 engines equipped with the ADBLUE system are no longer affected by the Dieselgate scandal. You must be referring to the older 2.0L TDI models equipped with the EA-189 engines and cheat program. Since the cheat program is much cheaper than the ADBLUE system, VW chose it in order to keep the price of its Jetta 2.0L TDI low. Since the emissions standards of the CARB and Euro 5-6 are very high, VW opted to work around them instead of addressing them. However, even with this cheat program, the emissions of the EA-189 engines are still way much cleaner compared to those of jeepneys, AUV's, buses, and trucks here in the Philippines. Besides, what are you worried about? The Philippines has just recently adopted the Euro 4 emissions standards, which the EA-189 engines can easily pass even if the cheat program is deleted. Admittedly, the dual DRY clutch transmission of the older models equipped with the EA-189 engines are not that robust. However, the new DSG dual WET clutch transmission of newer models with the EA-288 engines are far more durable and reliable, as they are designed to handle the new engine's increased power and torque. Lastly Volkswagen is now distributed here in the Philippines by Ayala's AC Industrial Technology Holdings Inc., which also distributes Honda cars, Isuzu's and KTM motorcycles, so availability of parts won't be a problem. In fact, we even have alternative sources of parts, as some members of our VW Jetta Club Philippines are distributors of VW parts and accessories.

  2. This is a good buy if you want an understated car that will smoke any compact car in the road today, including the RS turbo and still leave you smiling at the fuel pump.

    2. Ayala owned VW dealerships have a far better customer service compared to say... Toyota. It is really a very good car. The build quality, the interior finishes and the performance is typical German. Prospective clients within range of a dealership shouldn't worry for parts supply and service.

  3. We have a Jetta 1.4TSI DSG here in Jamaica (company owned). Rated 160Hp & 240Nm Torque (it has a supercharger and a turbocharger!) And oh, its one if not the best in the segment in terms of fuel economy! We tried and reached 220 kph with ease at Hwy 2000 from Kingston to Ocho Rios. Can be pushed more past 6k rpm. Extreme performance for a cute engine! Darkhorse tong kotse na to for its price & segment.

The 2.0TDI Ph version is on par & even more in terms of rated performance. 150Hp & 340Nm of torque for a family sedan, and its a diesel. For just a 1.2M, you got a powerful performance, superb material & build quality, excellent handling & comfort, in a plain but classy styling (subjective), what can i say more? This is a no nonsense car and company.

There is an all new Jetta coming though, but i don't know if it will be available in Ph market.
