The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Can Also Do Deliveries

The Toyota Land Cruiser has become the quintessential ride of VIPs, politicians, and drug lords (both exclusive and mutual), but in the United Kingdom, it’s now known as a delivery van?!

You read that right. Bring up the Land Cruiser Prado’s “quality, durability, and reliability”, Toyota UK has decided that hey, it’ll make for a good workhorse too. Although it’s already being used by agencies like the United Nations, this is perhaps the first time it’ll line up alongside the Hilux and the Europe-only Proace as part of Toyota’s utility line-up.

Short and long-wheelbase versions are available with three and five doors respectively, sharing the same body styling as the 2018 Land Cruiser. However, the rear seats have been removed to create a load area stretching to 1,574 liters in the SWB and 2,216 liters in the LWB. Payloads? A respectable 593 to 756 kilograms. What sets the Land Cruiser delivery van though is that it can tow up to 3 tons! Imagine the MMDA using this to tow illegal parkers! That foreigner Gadget (Traffic) Addict guy will certainly piss in delight.

The load space itself is designed to be practical and hard-wearing with an edge-to-edge non-slip flat floor tray. The division between the front cabin and rear cargo area is a full height metal bulkhead with a strong mesh top section fitted with a hatch for easy access. Loading is via the wide-opening side-hinged tailgate, or (on five-door models) through either of the rear side doors. The rear windows are blanked out just like a van.

Some of the features include 17-inch steelies, standard air conditioner, cruise control, and even a 6-speaker audio system with Bluetooth and USB inputs. It also gets automatic headlights, smart keyless entry, and front fog lights—basically just like the deluxe Congressman version.

Powered by a 2.8-liter D-4D engine, it makes 175 horsepower and up to 450 Nm of torque, it reaches the century mark in just 12.1 seconds. The sole transmission is a 6-speed manual.

When the deliveries get tough, the Land Cruiser Prado delivery van has a minimum ground clearance of up to 215 millimeters, an approach angle of 31 degrees, and a water wading depth of 700 millimeters. Need to deliver that Lazada package to the boondocks. Bam. Job done.

Prices start at £ 27,546 or roughly P 2,042,000.

  1. Nice!

That starting price is for the 3-door... wonder how much it is for the long one...

  2. Unbelievable! Delivery van for its price ... very unrealistic, just buy an actual delivery van with more pracrical space and uses. Its a luxury SuV intended for a premium ride and not for goods.
