2019 SsangYong Musso Takes a Luxury Approach to Pick-Up Trucks (w/ 14 Photos, Specs)


Korean carmaker SsangYong is entering the pickup truck market with the Musso. Literally meaning, “rhinoceros” in Korean, the Musso builds on their expertise as a commercial vehicle manufacturer and as such, takes a somewhat different approach.

Preferring to call it a “Luxury Utility Vehicle”, the Musso rides on the Rexton SUV’s robust yet refined platform. The high-tensile steel frame is designed to handle roads less travelled while the unique and bold exterior. Inside, it has an upscale interior filled with luxury and convenience features.



Powered by a 2.2-liter CRDi diesel engine, the Musso makes a stout 181 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. Drive is routed solely through the rear wheels via a 6-speed Aisin automatic transmission. It’s rated to carry a one-ton payload.

Despite its strong performance, the Musso promises SUV-like ride and comfort. This is emphasized by its impressive list of standard features which includes power front seats covered in Brown Nappa leather, an enhanced sound system equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and dual zone climate control with rear vents.



For safety, the Musso gets 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, a rear review camera, and remote keyless entry as standard.

The Musso comes with SsangYong’s generous free 3-year or 60,000-kilometer free Periodic Maintenance Service (PMS) and a 5-year or 100,000-kilometer warranty. Thanks to it being exempt by the TRAIN law, the Musso is priced at a competitive P 1,495,000 and is now available at all SsangYong dealerships nationwide.
