Peugeot to Offer Electrified Sports Vehicles by 2020

For Peugeot, the future is electric. After showing off the beautiful e-LEGEND CONCEPT, the French carmaker is putting all its chips on electrification technology, particularly when it comes to their next-generation sports vehicles.

Developed in collaboration with Peugeot’s performance arm, Peugeot Sport, these new range of electrified vehicles will high performance and low emissions. The first of these vehicles will start rolling into showroom floors by 2020.

The announcement of Peugeot’s electrification plan does have one side effect though. This meant that the carmaker had to bow out of the FIA WRX or World Rallycross Championship at the end of the year. The automaker cites WRX’s undercertain move towards electrification by 2021.

Still, Peugeot believes fans are in for a treat. “Driving pleasure is at the heart of the brand’s history. Electrification is a new opportunity to offer new high-performance versions to our customers looking for low-emission sports sensations. Driving sensations will be amplified by the performance provided by electrification. New territories to be explored, new challenges to be met, the adventure of the Peugeot brand continues for an exciting future. Boredom will never be part of our DNA,” says Jean-Philippe Imparato, Peugeot Brand CEO.
