All-New 2020 Subaru Levorg is Launching at the Tokyo Motor Show

While everyone else has their eye on the Subaru WRX STI EJ20 Final Edition, the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show marks the global debut of the all-new, second-generation Levorg.

Details are currently scarce, but Subaru did release one single teaser photo and a short 20-second clip. From there, it’s clear that the Levorg won’t be straying far from the current design formula. It looks to have a flatter nose and sharply angled creases at the doors—similar to the current-generation Subaru XV and Forester.

Subaru says the all-new Levorg “aims to realize a future where everyone can enjoy driving as much as they want,” and to that end, it will likely gain the latest version of the Subaru EyeSight driver assist system. It must be noted that the current Subaru Eyesight Version 3.0 system has already gained lane keeping assist and single lane autonomy.

As with other current-generation Subaru models, the all-new Levorg will likely migrate to the Subaru Global Platform. This makes the all-new Levorg the first performance model to be underpinned by Subaru’s new platform which offers improved straight-line stability, suppressed NVH, and meeting the world’s highest levels of safety.

Rumors are also ripe that the all-new Levorg will utilize a brand-new engine family that replaces the current 1.6- and 2.0-liter turbocharged mills. If the reports are correct, the entry-level model will likely have a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine making about 150 horsepower, while the new 1.8-liter will have around 270 horsepower.

The wait won’t be for long because the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show starts on October 23. For now though, you can see the 20-second teaser clip courtesy of Subaru.
