These are the Complete Specs, Prices of the 2020 Toyota Corolla Altis

The 2020 Toyota Corolla Altis is inching towards its launch this September 9. After several websites were able to leak the prices and variants, we finally gotten hold of the full specs, too.

There are two engines available: the 1.6-liter (1ZR-FE) 4-cylinder making 121 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 153 Nm at 5,200 rpm; while the 1.8-liter (2ZR-FXE) makes a combined 121 horsepower (the ICE makes just 97 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 142 Nm of torque at 3,600 rpm). The non-hybrid variants have a 50-liter tank, while the hybrid has a 43-liter tank. Transmission options are a 6-speed manual or a CVT.

Underneath, the Corolla Altis shifts to the TNGA platform and with that, it has independent suspension all around. The fronts are MacPherson Struts, while the rears are Double Wishbones.

It’s worth noting that the Corolla Altis is bucking the trend by offering not one but two manual transmission models—the 1.6 E and the 1.6 G. The 1.6 E is the sole variant that’s priced below one million pesos (P 999,000 to be exact), while the 1.6 G is at P 1,045,000. Adding P 70,000 (P 1,115,000) nets you the most affordable CVT variant.

Understandably, the 1.6 E doesn’t dig deep in terms of luxury and convenience features. It has halogen headlights, no fog lights, fixed intermittent wipers, fixed rear seats, a more primitive multi-info display, simpler door trims, no steering wheel controls, manual A/C, and no rear arm rests. Despite all these absences, it does manage to get LED brake lamps, 205/55 R 16 aluminum alloy wheels, one-touch up/down windows for all, and a full suite of safety features: 7 SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, and vehicle stability control.

Moving up a notch, you have the 1.6 G. The differences are: power folding side mirrors, a 60/40 split-folding rear seats, a 4.2-inch colored multi-info display, a leather steering wheel with audio controls, soft-touch panels on the door trim, rear arm rests, and automatic climate control.

Meanwhile, the top-trim 1.6 V comes out at P 1,185,000. This one is bang-for-the-buck considering its price and features. Outside, it gains bi-beam LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, 17-inch wheels (225/45 R 17 tires), and automatic rain-sensing wipers. Inside, it has leather seats with power adjustment for the driver, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, automatic dimming rear view mirror, an illuminated glove box, keyless smart entry, and a rear sunshade. It’s the most affordable model in the line-up to offer cruise control, corner sensors, and a rear parking camera.

Finally, there’s the 1.8 V Hybrid CVT. At P 1,580,000, there’s a considerable price jump over the conventional engine variants. As expected, aside from the hybrid drivetrain, not much has been added. However, it is the only model that gets Toyota Safety Sense which bundles pre-collision, automatic high-beam assist, lane trace assist, lane departure alert, and dynamic cruise control.

  1. Nice that it still has a proper double wishbone rear suspension unlike the other car that is so popular here but the 400k premium for hybrid is a bit high. I suppose it will pay for itself over the years but you also have to consider the battery replacement cost after 7-10 years.

  3. I hope they skip the horrendous AVT head unit and bring it along with the OEM including the Apple Carplay and Android Auto.

  4. Compared to the Prius' price of more than 2m, the Corolla Altis Hybrid is a good buy.
