Mazda is the Only Japanese Brand to Be Shortlisted for 2020 World Car of the Year Awards


The journey to the 2020 World Car of the Year awards has started and the shortlist has just been announced. This year’s list is dominated by Korean and French brands, while the sole Japanese brand on the list? Mazda.

Eighty-six international automotive journalists who make up the jury panel revealed that the following cars were shortlisted:

  • Hyundai Palisade
  • Hyundai Sonata
  • Hyundai Venue
  • Kia Seltos

  • Kia Telluride
  • Land Rover Range Rover Evoque
  • Mazda3
  • Mazda CX-30
  • Mercedes-AMG A35/45
  • Mercedes-AMG CLA35/45
  • Mercedes-Benz CLA
  • Mercedes-Benz GLB
  • MINI Cooper SE
  • Opel/Vauxhall Corsa
  • Peugeot 208
  • Peugeot 2008
  • Renault Captur
  • Renault Clio
  • Renault Zoe R135
  • Seat Tarraco

The 2020 World Car of the Year will be revealed at the New York International Auto Show in April.
