Is This Toyota C-HR the Epitome to Parisian Rock Chic?

What makes a special edition, special? A unique color scheme, or maybe some additional trims? What about a collaboration? Well, for Toyota it seems slapping a two-tone color scheme on their C-HR crossover is enough to dub it the “Karl Lagerfeld Edition.” Yes, that actually happened.

Lagerfeld is recognizable for his signature white hair, black sunglasses, and an ensemble that consists of a black suit, white shirt (with high collars), and white fingerless gloves. He also happens to have been the creative director of Chanel—a fact that probably escaped the folks over at Toyota Thailand. Instead, they stayed fixated on his black-and-white look. Lagerfeld must be rolling in his grave.

The Toyota C-HR by Karl Lagerfeld takes the top-trim black colored C-HR Hybrid in Thailand and slaps on pearl white highlights, presumably to emulate Lagerfeld’s signature look. It gets pearl white side mirrors, side skirts, front bumper lip, roof and spoiler as well as LED fog lights, and high-gloss black wheels. Oh, and announcing its presence a mile away, the words “KARL LAGERFELD” is slapped on the side (Toyota admits it’s a white sticker wrap), and trunk emblem.

Inside, the very same black-and-white scheme continues. And of course, “KARL LAGERFELD” is visible on the seats, scruff plates, and dashboard. Yeesh. Oh, and for fashionistas, it also comes with a special luggage, handbag, cap, and keychain (no word if it’s from Lagerfeld’s own label or something from Toyota’s accessories counter).

Toyota says this special edition C-HR is made to emulate, “Parisian Rock Chic.” Whether they’ve managed to achieve that though is best left to the eye of the beholder.
