Land Rover PH to Launch 2 Plug-in Hybrid Vehicles in July

It looks like Jaguar Land Rover is taking electrification seriously here in the Philippines. Aside from the Jaguar I-Pace, distributor Coventry Motors is adding two electrified vehicles, and these come in the form of Land Rovers.

Teased once more via Facebook, Land Rover is set to introduce two plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) this July. A short look through Land Rover’s catalogue reveals that the only two candidates fitting that description are the Range Rover Evoque and the Land Rover Discovery Sport.

This makes sense because these two SUVs are underpinned by Land Rover’s new Premium Transverse Architecture which are designed from the get-go to accommodate both mild-hybrid and plug-in technologies.

Both badged as P300e, they offer an electric-only range of up to 66 kilometers thanks to a 15-kWh lithium-ion battery. They can also use their 108-horsepower electric motor to hit 135 km/h without the internal engine switching on. Both models also pack a 200-horsepower 1.5-liter 3-cylinder engine at the front. Combined with the electric motor, Land Rover says they can hit 100 km/h from a standstill in 6.1 seconds while still hitting 71.42 km/L.

More details on these two plug-in hybrid vehicles, including the price, will be revealed on the launch date.
